As my classroom transitions more towards personalized learning, we are excited to transform our classroom into a learning environment that meets all the unique needs of my students. By providing materials where students feel more comfortable working and learning we will be creating more confident and successful learners. I'm requesting Alphabetter Stand-Up Desks, barrel chairs, Gaiam Kids Balance Ball Chairs, play tables, lap desks, floor seats, and stool seats. The reality is, that our workforce today doesn't spend eternity sitting at a desk and neither should our children. They should feel comfortable moving around the room and finding places to work that will support their academic learning. Some students may want to sit quietly on a cushion in the library while others may want to sit at a table talking and sharing their ideas. Just like adults, children have their own unique learning needs. My classroom already has a great degree of autonomy when it comes to how we learn. We are hardly ever at our desk but rather are in the halls working, on the floor and at the tables. This is an opportunity to bring in materials to support this learning environment for not only the remainder of this school year, but for many more school years to come.
