• Books to Inspire 5th Grade Bookworms!

  We are now nearly five months into the school year and our OBOB (Oregon Battle of the Books) competition is in full swing! My fifth graders are pouring over the books that your generous donation provided to us. Many of these books are 300+ pages long, and in the past few months most titles have been read more than 10 times each!

  For many of these kids, reading these books is a favorite part of their school day. It is so rewarding to watch them get excited about the current book they're reading and even more fun listening to them talk about their reading with their friends. Thank you, so much, for bringing the joy of reading to us!”

• Classroom Magazines~ Reading to Learn!

  Thank you so very much for your contribution to our project. My students were so excited when they heard that our project was funded, and even more happy when we started receiving the magazines! These magazines have helped my students access high-interest non-fiction, one area that our classroom library was really lacking. They are always very engaged in the learning when we get a new Time for Kids magazine!

  Fourth grade is such a critical age for reading non-fiction text, and your contribution will help these students as they soon move on to middle school be ready to access the textbook reading that will be required of them. Thank you so much for your dedication to student learning and engagement!”

• Learning Math With Technology

  Thank you so much for your generous contribution to this project. These ipads have enriched the learning in my classroom in ways that I had not anticipated! The ipads are a huge motivator for my students. They are used during math to practice many skills, during reading to read on the kindle app, and even in writing. I have seen a huge impact on not only their motivation during math, but also in their fluency with their math skills. There are also a huge array of apps that they can now access to get a more visual understanding of fractions and decimals, which have always been a difficult concept for fourth graders to grasp. • 4th Grade eReaders!

  Thank you so much for your generous contribution to this project. These kindles have enriched the learning in my classroom in ways that I had not anticipated! The kindles are a huge motivator for my students. They are used during Reader's Workshop, in book clubs, and in math to practice their multiplication skills. When I purchase an ebook, I am able to download that book onto all 3 devices, which enables me to purchase books for my students more often without paying much out of pocket. This enables my students to have access to the books that they are excited about! My students are also increasing their vocabulary by using its built-in dictionary, highlighting important text, and learning how to take notes all on these kindles.The impact of your donation will continue for many years to come. • Reading to Learn in 4th Grade

  Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our project! I have 76 Fourth Graders that read in my class each day. These books have increased their reading motivation, increased their reading skills and are helping them reach their goals in reading.

  Without your contribution, my fourth graders would mostly have access to reading textbooks. I am a firm believer in students having access to high-quality books. I feel this is the only way to instill in them a lifelong love of reading. Thank you for helping to make that possible.

• First Grade eReaders!

  Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our project. My students were ecstatic when we received the two Kindles and we now use them everyday during our Reader's Workshop. This addition to our classroom library has, without a doubt, increased the level of motivation my students have for reading.

  The Kindles give my students an experience with text that they may not get outside of the classroom. The Kindles have helped my students increase their vocabulary, learn how to highlight important information for note taking, and look up additional information to answer questions. It gives them the experience with technology that they will need for their future.

• Help Us Grow With A Classroom Garden

  I so appreciate your contribution to the completion of our gardening project! You truly did a wonderful thing. Your generosity will directly benefit my students and many students to come. We are planning to use these materials to grow plants native to our area and study their growth. We are even thinking of planting these native plants in our community. • Learning by Listening

  I am so touched by your donation to our classroom. Our classroom has benefited so much by having these cd players in our room, it has really made our Reader's Workshop come to life! My students are so excited to sit down with a new book and it's accompanying cd and listen while they read along. It is truly motivating to them. I try to bring new books to the classroom as often as I can, and my students always ask: "Is there a cd with it?" They love it!

  Our district is facing another large budget shortfall for next year and we are in an area that is already short in resources. You should know that your donation has impacted these students in a big way because they do not usually have the opportunity to use resources like these.

• New Teacher...Given A Room With No Books!

  I was so excited when I opened up my email this afternoon to hear that my project had been funded! I don't know how I can thank you enough. I started the year off with a handful of books, which was heartbreaking to me because I hold such strong beliefs in having great books accessible to kids. Your donation is allowing me to do that. This is such a great gift for these kids, and for many kids in years to come. I also use books all day in my instruction and am dreaming up new lessons in my head as I write this.
