  • Think Before You Speak. Read Before You Think!

    Funded Sep 15, 2014

Thank you so much for your support and donations!! The students were thrilled when we had a package delivered to our classroom. They were anxious to open it and see what had been sent to us. Once we opened it, they were filled with excitement and everyone wanted to use it first, of course!

We are using our listening station during our work time. The children are now able to use it independently, changing out cd.'s and stories, monitoring their noise level, and using the headphones properly. Because our listening station came with multiple sets of stories, the children stay fully engaged! It's been a great station to teach independence and cooperation, problem solving, wonderful vocabulary and rhyming words and overall enjoyment of reading!

This project has been great for so many reasons. It has made listening and reading enjoyable and exciting for all of the children, but especially the ones who may have been lacking that from the beginning. Our listening station has been a great way to do small group activities but come back together as a large group and discuss characters, settings, and vocabulary among many other things!

    We truly appreciate your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McCarter

My students are my heart. They are brilliant, outgoing, caring and thoughtful little people! They have so much to offer but many of them are lack adequate resources that so many other children are provided. The students we serve come from impoverished families, foster care system, are homeless, come from single parent families, or are living with family members other than their parents. Our school's goal is to provide the most effective and sufficient education that these children deserve while working closely to provide resources for families in crisis or need. Because it is not feasible to ask these families for donations for our classrooms, it becomes very tough to have the appropriate and well-deserved supplies and materials for our children. This is where members of our community have the opportunity to show their support. It also lets our children and families know the true value of education; that complete strangers are willing to be the ones who make a difference!
