Thank you so much for helping me make this project happen! I am so excited to be able to introduce more music cues into my classroom to help my students be even more successful! My kiddos will be super excited to have this in our room as well!! I can't wait for it to arrive and get it all set up!”
Thank you so much for the wonderful donation. We have been using these books during our reading lessons. In the past we have had to just play read alouds of these books from Youtube. I have been able to display all the books for the week on the board which has gotten the kids excited to have reading each day.
We have seen a major impact in our recent Non-Fiction unit. It has been amazing to hold the books under the doc cam so we can learn about all the different text features of Non-Fiction books. It has been great to be able to take the time to show them how to use a table of contents and a glossary. The kids were able to look at both Fiction and Non-Fiction books side by side. This has really help them to understand these more abstract concepts.”
My heart is so full as I write this impact letter. Two years ago I went back to teaching after spending a few years home with my family. I spent my first year back just getting my feet wet. Last summer I decided to rework the reading program for Kindergarten at our school. I planned out the entire year in one summer and did not want to just show my students read alouds on Youtube each day. Your donation has given our kids the chance to hear us read physical books to them each day.
All our books are stored and organized by month in a central location available to all of our kinder teachers so each week I grab all the books we need and put them on display for the kiddos in my class. My kids get so excited to be the one to grab the book for the day. I love being able to stop and have teachable moments with all of the kids. Each weeks theme is always more impactful with each read aloud book.
I can't wait to share and read all the stories with the kids!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Bruce
This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Foundation and one other donor.
Thank you so much for donating the money to buy iPads for our classroom. Our students were over the moon when they finally arrived. They were so grateful to have these to use everyday. I feel so blessed to have these resources for my students. Not only have the students been using them for academics but they have learned about the responsibility of taking care of them. The students have learned how to neatly put away all the headphones and how to make sure each iPad is charging at the end of the day. They take such pride in knowing that they are responsible for them.
The majority of the students use the iPads during our center time for math or reading activities. They work together in small groups to play games that are helping them learn their numbers, time, money, reading skills, and how to write their letters. I have seen a major shift from years past with having these iPads as a resource. A few of our special education students have been using them to work on their IEP goals and this is has been a major resource for them. Our special education teacher sends her thanks for helping us help these amazing students.
This project has really helped me improve our Daily 5 center time. The students have the chance to be more independent and take more of a responsibility for their learning. I have seen my students soar in just the short time that we have added the iPads into our daily routine. I am always on the look out for more apps and any ways to help my students grow. From the bottom of my heart this donation has really changed our classroom.”
I teach a group of 50 kindergarteners in a half day program in Northern Virginia. I work in an inclusion classroom. They are an amazing group of kids who are also very excited about technology. We currently use my personal iPad during the "Daily 5." The Daily 5 is a student driven management structure designed to fully engage students in reading the writing. It is a literacy structure that allows for differentiation in the classroom and provides consistency. It is a integrated literacy instruction and classroom management system for use during reading and writing workshops. It is a system of five literacy tasks that teachers students independence. My students also use classroom computers to listen to stories, use phonics programs, and play the school math program "ST-math." Our school is full of amazing teachers who love what they do. Each teacher in our school goes above and beyond for their students.
