  • Physical Education Volleyball

    Funded Nov 23, 2019

We at Pinnacle View Middle School would like to personally thank you for your generous donation to fund our Volleyball Project. The volleyballs will be a tremendous help to our Physical Education classes. Each semester we have a 3 week volleyball unit and often times we do not have enough volleyballs for every student to practice individual skills. Now that you have funded our Volleyball Project, we now have enough volleyballs for each student to use for further practice of passing, serving and setting their own volleyball. We also allow the students to choose a Fitness Station to work in each day in class. One of those Fitness Stations in Volleyball and the students will be able to use the new volleyballs in the Volleyball Fitness Station each day.

Our students were very excited when they first saw the volleyballs. When the students opened the package, they were simply overjoyed. They couldn't wait to play with the new volleyballs. They also liked that the volleyballs were the same colors as our school colors.

We will continue to use the volleyballs throughout the school year during our volleyball unit as well as during our daily Station activity. Thank you so very much.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Blackwell

  • Developing Fundamentals of Volleyball

    Funded Jan 3, 2018

I am the Head Volleyball Coach at Pinnacle View Middle School in Little Rock AR and I really appreciate you helping us get the volleyball equipment we so desperately need. The student athletes will use the equipment to help improve their serves and receive serve with the indoor/outdoor volleyballs. They will also use the equipment to help improve their passing and hitting skills. We will also use the volleyballs and trainer set to during drills and team strategies.

The student athletes were very excited to see the volleyballs we can use outdoors as well as indoors. The students enjoy playing volleyball outdoors. They were very happy to see all of the equipment and use the air pump to keep all of our balls inflated. They are hoping this equipment will help them win first place in the district volleyball tournament this year.

The new equipment has helped the students during practice times. Now every student athlete is able to have a volleyball to share with a partner. This allows them to maximize their time and effort in volleyball practice. I believe it is important for athletes to have fun as well as work at their sport and the volleyball players are having fun using the equipment.

Because of your generous donation, our volleyball team will be better prepared to have a fun and winning season this year. We are very excited about all of the donations and the many ways we can use the equipment. I am so very grateful for the Donors Choose program that offer teachers and students additional resources that often times the school districts can not provide. Now our student athletes are able to compete on a higher level thanks to your generous donations.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Blackwell

  • Fun With Fitness

    Funded Jul 27, 2015

Thank you so very much for your generous donation to our Fun With Fitness Physical Education Project. We are very excited to use all of the PE equipment throughout the school year. The students were happy to assist with unpacking and storing all of the equipment. They also enjoy being a PE Equipment Manager to help take care of the new equipment.

Our students at Bale Elementary School will be using the equipment in different physical education units during the school year. Each Unit will help students develop specific ball handling skills to be used in various low organized sports and games. We have been using the basketballs, nets and goals in a Fitness Relay unit. Because we do not have a gymnasium, the students will use the soccer balls and goals in the soccer unit, outdoors in the Spring. We also play many other fun games using the various balls and goals. One of my fifth grade class were so excited when they were able to have new basketballs to play their favorite game of Basketball Elimination. The class broke up into two teams to play the game and there was a tie. The class is still very eager to break the tie in the Spring.

The students were so happy when they first saw of the PE equipment that they ask to borrow it during their recess and they have done an awesome job taking care of their new PE equipment. The students are looking forward to playing soccer and basketball again in the Spring and using their new PE equipment. Thank you again for your donation that has allowed our students here at Bale Elementary School to fully enjoy and learn in The Fun With Fitness Unit.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Blackwell

  • Fit For Life

    Funded Jan 5, 2015

    Dearest Donors,

Thank you so very much for your generous donations to our Bale Elementary School "Fit For Life" Physical Education Project. The students at Bale were very excited to see the Scooter Boards and Parachute when they first arrived to the school. They were even more excited and highly motivated to participate in physical education class when we had our Parachute and Scooter Board activities in their Fit For Life PE unit. The students said,"I am so happy we have these fun scooter boards to play fun games." Many students would say to me, "Thank you so much Mrs. Blackwell for getting us these fun scooter boards and the parachute." I informed them that it was generous people (YOU) that donated their hard earned money for the PE equipment they are now using. It filled my heart with joy to see the smiles on their faces, them clapping their hands in excitement and all the laughing from the students when they played the various games with the scooter boards and the parachute.

We are using the scooter boards in a "Scooter Board" unit. In the Fit For Life educational unit there are many lessons with fun activities where the students use the scooter boards in a large group and in fitness stations. The first lesson I teach the students is scooter board safety and how to move in different ways on the scooters. In the large group, the students will play a fitness game called "Scooter Tag". They will also use the scooters for Relay Races and they really do enjoy the Relay Races. I also teach a lesson where the students will play a game of floor hockey on the scooters. They have a lot of excitement and high energy whenever we play games with the scooters.

We use the parachute in a "Parachute" unit. The students enjoy being able to use the parachute outdoors to play various fitness activities in this Fit For Life unit. The first lesson I teach with the parachute is Parachute Safety. I also teach a lesson where students use various locomotor skills to move with the parachute. There is a lesson where students play a game of "Popcorn" with the parachute. They will place various size soft balls on the parachute and wave the parachute with their hands to make the balls bounce up and down on the parachute to look like popcorn. The students really get excited and full of laughter when they play the game Popcorn. The students will also play a fitness game of "Under The Big-top" with the parachute. The students raise the parachute up over their heads and quickly pull it down to the ground as they sit on the edge and underneath the parachute. While under the parachute, the students will use various locomotor skills to switch places by color under the parachute. This is a fast pace, high energy fitness activity with lots of laughs. I enjoy playing the parachute games with the students and they really enjoy me joining in on the different games.

The "Fit For Life" project definitely boosted my teaching and the students learning in many ways. The students were able to have fun while performing different fitness skills using the scooter boards and the parachute. The students developed upper body strength while using both the scooter boards and the parachute. They had to use the muscles in their arms to move the parachute appropriately and to move their bodies on the the scooter boards. I was able to incorporate math and literacy into each Fit For Life lesson to improve students academic skills. The students also learned cooperative and leadership skills when playing by the rules with each scooter and parachute game. The students were able to develop better social skills during cooperative play with the scooters and parachute games. I gained 100% participation with a positive attitude from all students with the scooter board and parachute Fit For Life fitness unit. Students are graded on participation, rules, attitude and skill level in PE class. The Fit For Life Fitness Unit with the scooters and parachute allowed all students full opportunity to improve on each of those skills they are graded on. Each student took advantage of that opportunity and improved on all skills in Physical Education Class at Bale.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting our Fit For Life PE unit. Because of you and your donation to our Fitness Project, our students grades improved and allowed them access to more fun fitness activities. The students and staff at Bale Elementary says a great big "THANK YOU" for your donation to our "Fit For Life" Project.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Blackwell
