Our Community School members believe that education must prepare all learners to be critical thinkers and thoughtful citizens. We believe in and foster a school environment in which children work toward compassion, respect, equality and justice and where students are allowed to discover and explore their place in the world. The staff at our school provides instruction and guidance that focuses on the students' needs and interests. All students, including those with special and gifted needs, are included in daily classroom instruction. Teaching methodology and classroom structure incorporate democratic practice, ensuring that students learn to solve problems together through discussion, collaboration and innovation. Learning together and from one another is an essential part of this philosophy. My job as a 1st and 2nd grade teacher is to meet individual needs for students of all abilities and disabilities.
