Meeting All Students’ Needs in a Differently Abled Classroom.
Funded Nov 25, 2018We would like to thank you for your support of our functional skills program. Because of your generosity, we are able to help facilitate fine motor skills through fun and interactive activities. People like you make a difference everyday. Just within the time that we have utilized the materials, my students are showing growth especially with the locks activity. One particular student, who exhibits behaviors throughout the day, loves his functional skills time. The skills are at his level and engaging to look at while being hands-on. These materials will be used for many years and be able to help so many of my students.
Again, many thanks for your support. It means the world to me that there are special people like you who understand the value in my students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Peterson
Survival Signs for Students with Significant Disabilities
Funded Aug 23, 2014We appreciate your kindness immensely. Thank you so much for your generous support of my classroom. It can be very difficult to find material for safety skills and community signs to keep my students actively engaged, so this curriculum with resources and games are the perfect solution to continually challenge and motivate my students. We have put these resources to use immediately by teaching my students how to play bingo while having them differentiate the important community signs. Having the materials at the students' level helps ensure my students are able to continue improving their safety knowledge and quest for independence.
They love participating in the bingo games. When I first introduced the curriculum and bingo, they were happy to participate. Now, my students are constantly asking me when we are going to play bingo. At least once a week, they chant bingo.
My students have been able to generalize the information they have learned in class by performing the appropriate safety skills in the public. Also, my students have experienced a renewed spirit while participating in community-based instruction. They flock to each and every sign they see and point while calling out what the sign means. Now, each student is on his or her way to a successful independent life.
Thank you once again from my students and from myself!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Peterson
