  • Mathematicians in the Making!

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

My materials have finally arrived and they are already being put to good use in my classroom! The students couldn't wait to get their hands on the new math games and manipulative's. Both myself and my students extend our sincere gratitude for funding this project and keeping inner city students in mind! I plan to use more of the math materials next week and incorporate them during math center time, whereby the students get to use hands on tools to help them solve real world word problems. I can't wait to take some pictures and send them your way so you can see what an impact you have had on my classroom! Thanks again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hogan

Words can not express my gratitude for the kindness you have all displayed! The materials have arrived and are already being put to good use in my classroom! I can already see an improvement in the motivation of my students to become better writers! I intend on taking some good pictures this week and sending them your way so you can see the smiles on their faces when it comes to writing time! I appreciate all of the people out there who made funding this project possible and keeping inner city kids in mind! Thanks again!”

  • Shaping Our Minds For the Future

    Funded Nov 25, 2015

Words can not express how having these laptops in my classroom has affected my students. Having technology readily available and at their fingertips has increased motivation to learn as was as their engagement level.

The students are most excited about participating in literacy centers. They login to a website called www.myon.com and read books that are individually picked for their independent reading level. They then get to answer comprehension questions to assure they read and understood the text. The laptops have also helped with researching ideas and facts for their writing piece. We have books available but seeing the students learn how to search topics and images on their own really brings it to a new level. They are truly preparing themselves for a future that requires them to be able to use and understand computers.

I have a few students that have asked me multiple times if they can miss recess and come and use the new laptops. I haven't seen this much excitement from my students in a long time.”

    With gratitude,

  • A World of Learning Possibilities Awaits Them....

    Funded Aug 26, 2014

Words can not express how grateful I am for the amazing generosity that you have displayed. It is evident that you have made a lot of children happier this school year. My class is overjoyed with our new math and literacy resources and we got them at such a crucial time of the school year. We are starting new routines with new materials and couldn't be more thrilled. I am so happy that there are people out there that see the importance of giving back to education. The positive impact that I will notice this year will be the best gift of all. Thanks again!

My students are a group of excited 7 and 8 years old children that thrive off of knowledge and hands-on learning. They attend an inner city public school in the Bronx and are grateful for the opportunities that are provided for them daily. Most of my students will begin the school year below grade level, but they are all eager to learn and challenge themselves, and even have a little fun along the way. My students are very curious, and are always questioning the world around them. They want to show teachers and their parents what they're capable of. They want to know that someone is proud of them. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of time and resources to make this happen. I have the time but lack the learning aids that will help reach all of my students' individual learning needs.
