May I Have a Snack, Please?
Funded Oct 30, 2023My young students were amazed at the stack of boxes delivered and were in absolute awe when I said they were for them! Snack time is a struggle for most of my class, I try to provide enough for each student every day, but it is a challenge for me to maintain. I wrote this project in the summer before I even knew the group of kinders who would be benefiting from it. I may not have known their names but working at a school with almost 70% free and reduced lunch I knew there would be a need.
Thank you for helping feed my young learners when they are hungry. I purchased breakfast items in addition to the regular snack foods, for those who need a little extra pick-me-up mid-morning or for the tardies who missed out on breakfast. I cannot imagine trying to learn while hungry, your generosity has ensured my littles will not have to do that.”

Funded Nov 2, 2020The clear desk guards have been a blessing to say the least! The ones you allowed me to buy for my students are so easy to store and to clean. As you can see from the pictures, the ones we were using were made out of cardboard and had saran wrap or clear shower curtains from the dollar store stapled to the cut out sides, after 2 months they were already falling apart and dirty. The ones you allowed me to buy are clear, washable plastic, which is much needed in Kindergarten! They also fold up tight and small and can be stored beside the students' desks.
Thank you so much for making this possible for my young learners.”

Let’s See the World, One Book at a Time!
Funded May 6, 2020The power of yet...when I wrote this project back in Jan. 2020, our schools looked very different than they do today. I was thrilled when this project was filled in May, as was my Kindergarten team of 4 other teachers. In May, all our students were completing up their school year after being thrust into remote learning in March, sadly, the supplies were not used before the year was over. We started back in Aug. with 2 days of in-school instruction and 3 remote days. For our new learners that meant I had to spend our limited time together in the classroom teaching letters, sounds, and numbers. The posters are up, the music is being played, but the lessons on Cultural Awareness have not been directly taught...yet. I am grateful knowing when the time comes that I can teach more than just ELA and Math in person, that all our global awareness/cultural awareness supplies are waiting for my K team. Thank you for your support during what has been a very challenging time for all of us.”

Fun and Food!
Funded Mar 19, 2019My kindergarteners were thrilled to get new games for their centers! They had never played dominoes before so they had to learn how to play it before they could use the vocabulary, rhyming, and Math ones that they received. They also enjoyed the wooden matching 1-20 game and the addition/subtraction puzzles. The snack food is in our supply room and I have no doubt our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will greatly appreciate it when they have their 3 days of end of grade (EOG's) testing in June. Thank you for supporting NC public schools.”

Help Feed Our Hungry Students!
Funded Nov 28, 2018Thank you!
In August when I made this project, I was anticipating a regular year with a regular need for supplemental food for our at-risk children...little did I know what was coming. On Sept. 14th Hurricane Florence hit our community and we ended up being out of school for 6 weeks. The level of need my school still has is overwhelming; families who were once financially stable are now repairing or replacing homes and belongings.
In August I knew our biggest need would be food once again this school year but after the hurricane hit, our needs skyrocketed. I am so grateful we have been able to restock our food pantry.
Thank you again for donating food to my school - this year, more than ever, we have so many families in need of food assistance.”

Data + Knowledge = Action!!!
Funded Aug 3, 2018Thank you so much for your donation that allowed me to buy 120 binders. Kindergarten only has 95 students this year so I was able to share the remainder binders with 2nd grade.
The binders arrived the first week of school and I was able to share them with all the teachers on Sept. 11th which turned out to be our last day of school until this week. Hurricane Florence arrived that week of school and we have been recovering ever since. Thankfully, my elementary school had minimal physical damage but suffered damage from mold growth like so many other buildings. My school reopened yesterday on Oct. 22nd and that was the first time any staff could return to our school since Sept. 12th. Thank you not only for the binders but for your patience waiting for my thank yous and pictures!”

Funded Apr 5, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donation that allowed me to purchase a new picnic table for outside my classroom. The new picnic table has already made such a positive impact on my students - they can not wait to have a turn to go outside to read, write or study their word lists. In addition to being a center for our Daily 5, it is also a great place to demonstrate messy Science experiments! The donation you made that allowed me to buy a new table has not only helped my class of 20 kindergartners but my neighboring kindergarten teacher as well – he has decided to try and fix up my old white one this summer so his students will have an outside table to use next school year.
Thank you for supporting NC public schools,”

Feeding Student Success
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so very much for your generous donation to our school's food pantry.
Many of our students come from homes with limited resources, we diligently work to meet the needs of the "whole child; " academics, social, food, clothing etc. but our resources for food often run low.
Your donation will impact countless families over the next couple months. One of my school's initiatives that you have helped with is with the weekly food bags we send home to assist students on the weekend; the days our cafeteria cannot serve them breakfast and lunch. Your donation will also assist students who may come to school in need of extra food throughout the week.
Thank you again for your generous donation.”

Funded Feb 21, 2018My young students have a variety of interests, experiences, as well as different levels of prior knowledge and skill. Keeping my students engaged and interested in learning requires me to update my Reading, Writing and Math Centers often – that is where your donation was extremely appreciated. The money you donated to my classroom not only helped me buy educational learning games and activities (sentence frames, word puzzles, magnetic letters, math games...) but also several new books for our classroom library.
As a North Carolina public school teacher, I am so grateful for American companies like yours, that support public schools like mine.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

Funded Dec 31, 2017Students cannot learn if they are cold, tired, and hungry. As teachers, we want our students to succeed and we will do anything to help them achieve their goals; even if it means buying them food from our own pocketbook.
To help provide food to our students and their families on a more regular basis, my school began a food pantry on campus, so we could provide extra food to some of our struggling families over the two-week winter break, Spring Break, and the summer months. Our pantry also regularly provides meals to families who cannot make it through the week. Donations tend to be canned vegetables and starches but seldom do we receive much-needed proteins and nonperishable meats. The items that you donated to our school has given our pantry the help it needed to keep going strong for a couple more months. Thank you!”
