Bringing The Environment Into The Classroom
Funded Sep 2, 2009I really appreciate the wonderful supplies you have donated to my classroom! The different environmental science materials has helped in teaching the class, as well as getting the students excited about the environment. The large book of environmental science labs and activities has aided in making the information more fun. The students greatly enjoy participating in the various labs, and they have a better understanding of the concepts covered in class.
The students also loved the documentary about the disappearing bees. Many of them did not realize the issue, or the environmental impact. You have brought current issues of the environment into my classroom. Thank you for your help and support of my science classes!”

Funded Jul 7, 2009Thank you so much for helping to purchase the lab supplies for my biology class! The microscope and slide set are fantastic! My students have already used the supplies, with a lab learning to properly use microscopes. Several of my students had never had the chance to use a microscope before this lab. They were impressed with the new, fancy microscope which is better at focusing than the class set of microscopes. My students loved the lab, and looking at items under the microscope such as cosmetics, dust, hair, and newspaper. They were shocked when we looked at some of the human histology slides you purchased for the class. They really liked the blood smear as it reminded them of the crime shows on television.
The microscope lab will help my students to be prepared for their college science classes. They have now had the experience of using the microscope, focusing on a slide, and drawing what they see. They also had to write their first lab report, which will prepare them for their science labs as well.
I am excited to use this microscope for the rest of the school year. The next unit is cells. We will use the microscope to explore the different types of cells and identifying plant cells versus animal cells. We will also use the microscope in the spring to look at the different phases of mitosis.
Thank you very much for your help and support of science education! My students greatly appreciate the new supplies in our classroom.”

Germs In Our School!
Funded Apr 17, 2009Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom! My students loved the agar and bacteria experiment. They had a lot of fun trying to decide where in the school they thought would be a lot of germs. It was great being able to take a mini-field trip around the school to collect samples of bacteria. The bacteria cultures are growing great, and are even different colors and shapes. It has been an awesome lab! I am excited to do future projects with the agar and growing bacteria.
Experiments like these are essential in science in order to get the students excited about what they are learning. The practical application of seeing where all germs are in the school also allowed me to teach the importance of washing your hands!
Thank you so much for your help and support! You have made labs possible for my students!”

Funded Feb 5, 2009Thank you for the great model kits of chemical structures! We have used them as visuals aid in our class this year. The nutrition models have been a great opportunity to talk to students about nutrition and food diaries. We performed a lab where we analyzed the foods we ate over a24-hour time period. My students learned a great deal of practical applications of their biology education with this lab.
My students love doing labs and hands-on activities. Your generous donation to our class has allowed us to do these activities, and broaden the learning in our class. Thank you for your help and support of science education!”

Funded Jan 29, 2009I cannot thank you enough for your generous contribution to my biology class! The CSI Labs have been a great deal of fun. These activities have gotten many of my students excited about science, and possible futures in forensic science. Being able to provide these experiences to my students allow them to see practical application of their biology education. The blood typing lab was fun, as the students got to see how to test blood samples. The DNA Murder Mystery inspired my students to study more forensic sciences.
Thank you for your continued support of science education in public schools. We truly appreciate all of your help and support!”

Funded Feb 1, 2009I am very gracious for the dry erase board you have supplied to my classroom. We have used it daily in class. I can now write notes, have a vocabulary list, do examples, and draw diagrams. By being able to write it out on the board where the students can see it, read it, and copy it down, their skills are improving as well as their understanding of the material. The last two days alone we have done graphic organizers on the board as a class. With the graphic organizers they are able to put some of the concepts together and see the big picture.
Teaching in a large public school district, the budget is tight. Your generosity has greatly improved my classroom and the learning environment.
Thank you very much for your help and support! Without you my class would not be as amazing as it is!

Funded Feb 11, 2009Thank you very much for the genetics materials! I cannot tell you exactly how much this project has impacted my students! The meiosis lab has been wonderful helping me to teach this difficult process. My students made their own chromosomes to take through all of the steps of meiosis. Having a manipulative to move around has helped them much more than simply reading and taking notes. All of my classes have enjoyed the lab activity.
The two posters have been a great help to class as well. As we have covered the individual steps of mitosis and meiosis, the wonderful posters have given the students a visual aid.
You have enhanced the learning in my classroom a great deal, and I truly appreciate your generosity! Your help and support has given my students a deeper understanding of biology.
Thank you so much, and I hope you enjoy the pictures!”

Whose Prints?
Funded Dec 29, 2008Thank you very much for your generous donation! I know that my biology students will appreciate the supplies you have bought for our classroom! This lab will help to bring the world of science to my school and students. With the fingerprinting supplies, my classes will get the chance to do a real-life application of science, much like on television. Thank you for your continued support of the education of out students, we could not do it without you!

Funded Nov 19, 2008I am so thankful to have your help and support for my biology class! My students are so excited to have the opportunity to dissect frogs! Several told me on the first day of school that the number one thing they wanted to do or learn was to dissect a frog. Your donation means a great deal to me as I am now able to offer a fun and exciting lab, which my students would not have had the opportunity to do otherwise. The supplies are also greatly appreciated, as we do not have adequate tools to do dissection labs. I cannot thank you enough for your generosity.

An Opportunity for Worms
Funded Sep 23, 2008Thank you very much for your generous donation to my project! I am very happy to have the chance to do such a great lab. My students will be very excited to have this opportunity to dissect a worm! We do not have the budget to do such ambitious projects in our class. I appreciate your help and support of our class and our endeavors. Hopefully with this activity more students will become actively engaged in biology. I cannot thank you enough for your donation”
