  • Power Pens for Workstations

    Funded Nov 28, 2017

Thank you so much for funding our project. Math fact fluency is such an important skill for our fourth graders. When students have their math facts mastered they are able to spend their mental energy on the other important pieces of math problems. These pens and cards will allow our students to practice their facts in an engaging way. I can't wait to receive the materials and truly appreciate your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Slade

  • We Wish We had More TIME for Kids!

    Funded Oct 7, 2016

Thank you so much for your generous donation. My students love to read these non-fiction magazines. The students are drawn to them simply because they look like magazines that their parents and older siblings might read. The images and topics of each article are so engaging. As a teacher, I love that the students are reading a variety of different types of text and are learning more about important current events. I also love the materials that accompany each issue and feel confident using these materials to supplement my curriculum.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Slade

  • Making Math Fun

    Funded May 4, 2016

We have already put these great math games to use in our classroom. My students look forward to finishing their math assignments so that they can move on to a game that is both cooperative and reinforces their learning. As a teacher, I love these materials because the students are learning and don't even realize it. We have worked hard to practice treating these materials with care and being careful to always put the materials away after use so that we will have them for years to come. Thank you for your generous donation.”

  • Standing Desks For Our Classroom: Stand Up For Learning!

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

Thank you so much for donating to this important project. Traditionally, we think of classrooms that are filled with desks and chairs, where all students are seated in the same way. We now know that not all students do their best learning when they are seated. But how do we meet the needs of those learners? With these standing desks we will be able to give each student the best opportunity to be successful. We can't wait to receive these desks and begin to see the positive impact that they will have on student learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Slade

  • Help Us Survive with the "I Survived" Reading Collection!

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

Thank you so much for donating to this project. There is nothing that is more valuable in the classroom than books. This series motivates my students and encourages them to read for pleasure. Now that we have many copies of these books my students will be able to read them more often without worrying that they have already been taken from the classroom library by another student. My students are most excited about the recently released books that were included in this project. Anytime we can get students excited about reading we are sure to make an impact on their learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Slade

  • Keep Our Fire Burning with Amazon Fire Tablets!

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

Thank you for donating to this important project. My students regularly use our class tablet, but now we are able to have multiple devices in use at one time. Technology is so important in today's classrooms and we are so grateful for each donation that helped us to purchase these tablets. My students will be able to use these tablets to conduct research, visit educational websites, access math and literacy apps, and demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways. Our students will be better prepared for a world filled with technology thanks to your donations.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Slade

  • Personal Financial Literacy is our Goal!

    Funded Dec 22, 2015

Thank you so much for your generous donation. We use the iPad that we received every single day in our classroom. The iPad helps us to complete administrative tasks such as submitting attendance. It also helps us with behavior management. I have been able to download many educational apps including those that will support students' financial literacy. The students feel so lucky when they are able to have a turn with the iPad. They are particularly excited to use the iPad to enhance their assignments. For example, many students have created collages to accompany writing projects that they have completed. Thank you for your donation to this important project!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Slade

  • Motivate My Readers

    Funded Jan 3, 2016

Thank you for donating to this very important project. My students have already benefited from the high-interest reading folders and graphic organizers. My students have learned about buried treasure, service dogs, space exploration and so much more. The reading strategies that they have been learning about include reading for details and making inferences. They are particularly excited about the graphic organizers that came with each kit. Students regularly ask when they will be able to complete the organizers with their dry erase markers again. Your donations are very much appreciated!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Slade

  • Time for Us to Get "TIME for Kids"!

    Funded Aug 20, 2015

Thank you so much for your generous donation. My students read the Time for Kids each week and thoroughly enjoy them. We use the magazines for many reasons, but my favorite reason is that it builds awareness of the world that my students live in. We've read about so many topics including building bridges and saving rhinos in Africa. Often the magazines that my students read will prompt them to continue reading about the topics in other resources. We also use the magazines to practice reading strategies that can be transferred into all literacy activities. Thank you for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Slade

  • Listening to Reading to Build Fluency and Comprehension

    Funded Dec 21, 2014

Since the day we received our listening center materials my students have been racing to be the first student in the computer chair.

As a result of your generous donations my students have been able to access texts that they may not otherwise have been able to. In addition, students that might have picked up one of these books and lost interest in it quickly have been able to read the books from front to back because of the appeal of technology.

Without a doubt the addition of these resources to our classroom has and will continue to improve my students fluency and reading comprehension. We can't thank you enough!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Slade

Our students are so excited to learn and spend a ton of time in text in fourth grade. They are a group of diverse learners with amazing potential. Many of our students qualify for free or reduced priced meals. Our school is located in the heart of the neighborhood that many of our students live in. We are so proud of our community and know that our students are its future.
