The population of students in my school is 97% Hispanics that come from socioeconomically disadvantaged households. Many are first generation immigrants and will be the first in their family to finish high school and attend college. Because of their background, many of our students do not foresee themselves succeeding in higher level education. Due to our school's relentless encouragement to promote a college-going culture, many students are now becoming more aware of their capabilities and opportunities that are provided for college.
