  • Glue, Paper and Science

    Funded Mar 17, 2016

Thank you so much for your contributions!!! Now I have what I need to combine science and art so my students can use art to express what they have learned.

My young scientists are so excited to have new art supplies to cut, paste, and create projects to show what they have learned during each unit.

The pictures that I sent you had a group of kindergarteners doing a paper weaving project. I hope you enjoyed them.

I look forward to sharing some more of the art projects that they create. ”

  • Early Childhood Furniture for Young Scientists

    Funded Sep 22, 2015

Thank you so much for your contributions. My science room looks amazing . Thanks to you, my young scientists now have chairs and tables that are appropriate for their sizes. I am so thankful to have such a wonderful community of supporters who are ready to help me. My students love sitting in the new furniture, doing experiments and hands on projects. I believe that creating the right environment for children helps them to learn to love science and enjoy learning.

    Enjoy the holiday season!!!”

  • Glue, Paper And Science

    Funded Apr 16, 2014

Thank you so much for your generous donation! The students were able to get much more creative and extend their learning because of your generosity.

The students were very appreciative of the supplies. They understood they were a donation and were responsible with the materials. The students used these resources by creating new projects, especially for the Science Fair. We used the glue for our every day routines, including young students gluing their work into their scientific notebooks to take home at the end of the year to show their families.

The resources available helped boost teaching and learning in the science classroom because we were all able to be more creative and new projects were explored. We were able to do things we would not have done otherwise without these new materials, and it allowed for new ways of learning through scientific exploration and creation.”

  • Ready, Set... Wait! I Need a Computer

    Funded Feb 17, 2013

First of all, thank you so much for your generous donation! The elementary students here at our school were able to become better scientists because of the smart board technology and laptop combination. The students were also able to get much more creative and expand their learning because of your generosity!

The students love using the smart board technology and we could not have used it without the donation of this laptop. Our lessons were enhanced, as well as our exploration, through the use of technology. The students have learned many things in a way that they would not have otherwise been able to. They always ask if we can use the technology because they enjoy it so much!

We are able to use the resources here in our elementary science classroom during lessons, such as watching scientific video clips, playing interactive science games, and exploring various science concepts with the programs on the laptop. By including technology in projects and lessons, students are learning in ways that they enjoy and understand. They are interested in incorporating what they are learning here with their own technology at home. Through the use of the laptop and smart board, students are learning and seeing science beyond what the classroom has to offer and this is ensuring comprehension. We are able to explore science globally and have discussions about what we learn in new ways!

Students are increasing their interest in my classroom with the combination of science and technology. We could not use the smart board without this laptop, and this way of learning transcends classes and age groups. Every age group has shown an interest in this way of learning, and it has become an incentive for learning in different ways for each class. It has boosted teaching and learning because it is a new way for students to learn, and is an interesting way to explore science and build on scientific ideas. It connects students with science in a new way, and in a way that we can continue to learn from.

Again, thank you for helping the elementary scientists learn through the use of technology this school year. We couldn't have explored without you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nurse

  • Glue, Paper And Science

    Funded Apr 4, 2013

First of all, thank you so much for your generous donation! The elementary school students here at our school were able to do many more science projects and become better scientists because of the supplies we used for our projects this year. The students were able to get much more creative and extend their learning because of your generosity.

The students were very appreciative of the supplies this year. They understood they were a donation and were responsible with the materials. The older students especially noticed the extra resources and enjoyed working with them.

The students and myself are using these resources by creating new projects, especially for the Science Fair. The students drew pictures of themselves as scientists on the new construction paper. We used the glue for our every day routines, including young students gluing their work into their scientific notebooks to take home at the end of the year to show their families. We made fabric collages so the students could explore how different materials feel, and the glue was essential in the completion of that project.

The resources available helped boost teaching and learning in the science classroom because we were all able to be more creative and new projects were explored. We were able to do things we would not have done otherwise without these new materials, and it allowed for new ways of learning through scientific exploration and creation.

Again, thank you for helping the elementary scientists learn through using these materials this school year. We couldn't have explored without you!”

  • When Art and Science Meet

    Funded Dec 17, 2012

Thank you so much for your support. My students compared two different kinds of clay while molding them into various sculptures.

They enjoyed using their senses to describe the property of the two kinds of clay that they used. They were able to observe how the clay changed as their sculptures hardened and afterward, discuss the properties of clay.

Having the opportunity to merge science and art in my classroom was enriching for my students and gave me the chance to truly implement a multidisciplinary lesson in my science classroom.”

  • Microscopes For Young Scientists

    Funded Nov 21, 2012

Thank you so much for helping us get microscopes for your science classroom. Before we started the school vacation, I did my first lesson on how to use microscopes with one of my classes. The children were so excited to be able to look through the lenses and access a new world. In the following weeks, I plan to continue to introduce different classes to the use of microscopes and for the rest of the year, they will be part of my curriculum.

Your contribution has made a great difference in my classroom. Thanks to you, I'll be able to have my kindergarten, first, and second grade students use the microscopes for many years to come.”

  • Books for Little Scientists

    Funded Sep 26, 2012

Thank you so much for the wonderful books. After many years I finally got a great science library that I can use with my young scientists. The books in the library have been a great resource for my lessons. I read them aloud for the whole class and the children are enjoying looking at them by themselves.

In a science classroom, it is very important to have age appropriate books that can support the curriculum and enhance all of our activities.

These resources are not only helping this year's students, but will also continue to help many students in years to come.”
