  • College Bound

    Funded Apr 4, 2018

We are so appreciative for your kindness!! This was a surprise for many of us that our fellow classmate, Tanajah and Mrs. Haggerty worked on getting this project funded. Most of us will be going away from home for the first time and will be enrolling in SUNY through the NY Excelsior Grant. The bedding sets and shower totes are helpful to all of us as we begin to leave High School and start the next chapter of our lives. Mrs. Haggerty has promised us that this will be the most enjoyable years and ones where we must take advantage of every opportunity ahead. Ayannah Francis was hesitant about starting at SUNY Cobelskill but Mrs Haggerty said "the worst thing is that come home after a year but what would be worst is if you never even try". For many of us the cost of tuition was covered but the there things like dorm bedding was not. Thank you so much for believing in us and our future! We will think of your kindness and hope to one day pay it forward!

    Thank you

  • Starting The School Year Right

    Funded Nov 16, 2017

Words cannot express how much your donations means to me and more importantly my students. With your generosity I have been able to do so much this school year my classroom. I want to thank you so much for the pens, pencils and basic supplies. These are things that may be small but their impact is so great. My classroom is a better learning environment because of the organization and color. My students are using the materials daily. They really enjoy using the dry erase boards when doing both group and individual work. Thank you again for choosing to support our classroom and their future!”

  • A Macbook Gives Endless Opportunities To All In The Classroom!

    Funded Jul 31, 2017

Words cannot express how great I am to your generosity! The MacBook has changed my class. It has not only helped my students but me as a teacher.

The MacBook has helped me become a better teacher. Instead of having to rely on an old desk top that has not worked since last year I finally have access to the Internet in my classroom. I am using goggle drive to plan lessons with my ICT teachers even though we do not have a common planning time. It also has given me access to many different websites, videos and sources to better prepare my lessons. This really has enhanced Student engagement.

However, it is the students that really are being affected by the MacBook. My ESL students are using the MacBook daily. They are able to use it in class and with the help of Goggle translate they are better understanding the content. It also is being utilized after school for students that do don't have access to a computer at home complete assignments. In government class students are able to contact a city council member about an issue that they are passionate about which have been anything about the lack of school funding to the rise of homelessness on the subways.

In all every classroom should have a computer and I am happy to say due your generosity I have one. With this the access to information and possibilities is endless!”

  • Getting Regents Ready Through Historical Films

    Funded Mar 4, 2016

    Dear Donors,

As we just finished up our finals, I can tell you first hand that your donation made a huge difference. It made a difference by getting students excited to learn about history. In having a class based on film, attendance becomes important. I started to see students, who were last semester also late, making sure they were on time. They looked forward to our class. Any if anyone teaches a first period class you can appreciate it more. Thank you so much in helping me embark on this journey to create excitement about history but more important for the conversations and memories I shared with them about the films.”

  • Chart Paper Needed ASAP!!

    Funded Feb 4, 2016

Words cannot express what a difference your generosity has made on my classroom. My students were very excited from the moment that the supplies were delivered. I have already started to use the Chart paper to hang up vocabulary words, write down student's answers and even just to help them keep track of assignments. My classroom is looking more and more as a classroom where there is evidence of learning. Thank you for your donation not only to my classroom but for the investment in my student's education!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Haggerty

  • History In The 21st Century

    Funded Apr 23, 2009

As you know, it is sometimes very difficult for educators to receive funding for certain projects, materials and resources. Being an educator myself, I have often found myself scrambling for the things I need to teach, motivate and inspire my students to learn. Having found donorschoose.com has wholeheartedly opened my eyes to the kindness that exists in our world.

Because of your generous donation to my proposal, "History in the 21st Century" my class room environment has completely changed. I now have many more resources available to my students to engage them in, as well as enrich, their learning. Before the addition of the DLP projector the idea of showing my students and visuals were very limited. Now with the projector I can show them maps, propaganda, and real photographs which make history come alive. The lessons I was able to teach with the projector also helped prepare them for the NYS Regents exam where they are tested on their map skills and analyzing political cartoons. I hope with the addition of the projector that my students not only develop a love for learning about the past but are better prepared for college. I look forward to being able to use it with many students in years to come.

Again, thank you for your generosity. My students and I are very humbled and inspired by how you have helped us. It is such an extreme pleasure to know that someone like you is out there, willing to extend a hand when needed.”

    Mrs. Haggerty

  • Let's Read about History!

    Funded Dec 30, 2008

Thank you so much for your donation. I cannot wait to get back to school and tell my students about your generosity. This is a great way to start the new year. Your kindness will help my students this year and many students for years to come. The materials you have funded are much needed and were not attainable due to the recent Budget Cuts. Thanks Again!

    Sincerely, Ms. ”
