Putting Our Best Foot Forward!
Funded Mar 27, 2018The new binders and dividers that you have donated have made such a huge impact in my students' work. Now that they have somewhere to display their work they take so much more pride in what they are handing in. These binders allow them to display their math work and reading & writing work for all to review.
Our class is always up to some kind of project, so when they saw the boxes appear in the back of our classroom they were very curious to know what was in them. When they opened the boxes a look of surprise came over their faces because they had no idea that I had received the money for the binders. They were so proud when they received their binder and were able to put their work into it.
Going forward, the students in my class will be designing covers for their binders so that they are able to personalize their work. This will allow them to take pride in their work and display it for all to see.
Again, thank you for your donation. You have no idea the impact you have made for my students.”

Funded Aug 25, 2016Dear Donors,
I want to thank you again for your donation of HOOT! This book is getting so much buzz in my classroom. I am currently teaching two different ELA classes and between the 60 students that I teach not one of them is not enjoying the book. We are using HOOT to learn about environmental science and how our actions can have an impact. We are also learning many reading skills in addition. The students are using HOOT to learn how to use context clues to figure out the meanings of difficult words, they are learning figurative language, as well as drawing conclusions.
In my classroom reading is number one. My students read independently as well as in groups. With HOOT, my students are reading as a class and then they sit in a circle and discuss what they have read. They will discuss the events in the story, characters, and what they think might happen next.
With this new book I am not only able to have my entire class enjoy it but I am able to reach those children who are not always interested in reading.
Again, I would like to thank you for your donation!”

Funded Mar 9, 2016I cannot thank you enough for your donations. The other day the books arrived and I took my students down to get them. Their eyes all lit up when they saw the brand new books that we received from your donations. This morning when the students walked in they were already asking when we could start reading the new books.
These books will impact my students and classroom greatly. My students love to talk so I have found a way to turn their talking into learning and that is through reading. Each night my students are assigned a certain number of chapters to read and guiding questions they must answer. If those questions about the reading are not answered they may not participate in the group discussion for that day and that is terrible in their eyes. They love moving all of the desks and sitting in a circle with all of their classmates so that they can discuss what they have read. They lead the discussion and question each other. The conversation around our class books is rich and leads them into strong writing about the book.
These class books will allow us to continue this practice because we are currently on the last class book that I own and with your book donation we will be able to continue this in our classroom.”

Help Build A Love For Reading!
Funded Mar 15, 2015I would like to thank you again for the books that you donated to my classroom. They have made a huge impact on my students and they have helped them to build a love for reading. Every day they come into class ready to read their mystery and on days we don't have time to read them they get upset and can't wait for the next day to come so that they can read some more of the book.
These books have also help my students increase their reading levels as well as their comprehension and conversation. They are constantly thinking about what might happen next or why a character did what they did. It has truly changed their outlook on reading and has given them such passion for reading, especially mystery books.
Again, thank you for this donation. It has changed my students for the better and I hope that they will help my students in the future develop a passion for reading as well.”

Document Camera Needed!
Funded Aug 5, 2014I would like to thank you again for your donations. It has impacted the children greatly. The children were so excited to see it at the beginning of the year. They use the document camera daily to share their thinking with the class on projects they are working on as well as to show their writing to the entire class.
The students are also using the document camera to demonstrate their thinking with manipulatives during math class as well as to show their food webs that they have constructed during science class. The camera has given the children the ability to take risks because they want to share with their classmates their thinking and learning. They are proud of what they are doing and without this camera they would not be able to show the entire class what they are working on or how they are thinking.
Thank you again for your donation!”

Basketballs Needed!
Funded Nov 21, 2014Thank you so much for the basketballs and equipment. The girls were so excited when they found out that we received the balls. They had such great big smiles on their face. It was wonderful to see the excitement on their faces knowing that they were each going to get to practice with a ball that bounces.
The girls and I have already started practicing with the basketballs. They are working on their ball handling skills and their shooting. They continue to get better each and every week. This has impacted not only their skills but also their confidence.
This project has boosted my teaching and my students learning because they now feel that someone cares enough about them and what they do every week to have gotten them basketballs. They come to practice every week looking to learn more about the game and looking to improve themselves.
Again, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this equipment. It has changed these girls' lives and will continue to make an impact on the girls still to come up to the team.”
