  • Flexible Learning!

    Funded Dec 23, 2023

Thank you so much for your generosity! Your donation will make a huge impact in my kindergarten class. These items will help enrich my students learning experience and them them grow as learners. Again, thank you so very much for your generosity and may you have a wonderful holiday season!”

  • Cooking Up Coding

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you so much for the iPads. The students have been using them to code their Lego Robots. They have been working on the Lego challenge with the robots that they are coding with the iPads and these iPads have fostered collaborative work within the classroom.

In addition, the students have also been coding other robots and sharing their learning with other students. They have been doing research on the iPads for a Robotics competition that they will be in, in June.

These iPads have given the children access to technology that they might not otherwise have.”

  • CREATING with CRICUT!

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

Thank you so much for your donation. The students were super excited when they saw the cricut because they were able to design their own t-shirts for the robotics team. They have also decided to design shirts for Student Council as well.

This machine has allowed their imaginations to run wild and has allowed them to be as creative as they want. It has given students more opportunities to explore their create side. They have decided to use the machine to also print out inspirational quotes to decorate the bathrooms with.”

  • Merry and Bright!

    Funded Dec 9, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donations. With your donations, the students each received a brand new chapter book and a Lego/STEM kit. These items put huge smiles on the students' faces and brightened their day.

The books that were donated helped add to the students' at home library that they have begun building this year with the help of your donation and with the help of the Book Fairies. The Lego/Stem kits are helping the students grow their minds and become better critical thinkers.

Thank you again for your donations, and as we continue our learning we are going to become better creative thinkers.”

  • Growing a Love for Reading!

    Funded Oct 22, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donation. The new books in the classroom have been amazing! My students are both remote and in-person students and with these books I have been able to engage them in reading when they are home and in school. Many times they read books online. However, when they can they want to be able to hold a book in their hand and these books allow them to do just that.

Many of the books that were purchased are high interest books, and many of them are graphic novels which they do not normally have access to. Your support has given them to read books that engage them and help spark their love of reading.”

  • Diversity and Equality Through Picture Books!

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

The books that you help fund in my class have made a huge impact during my Social Emotional Learning time. These picture books have taught my students many lessons. Picture books are a wonderful way for kids to learn, no matter their age, that my class looks forward to seeing what book we will be reading next. They are so excited each week to see what picture book we will be exploring next.

Once we read a picture book as a class it is placed into our classroom library. Many times the students fight over who will get to take the book out to read again. They love the books so much and they learn so much from them.

Again, thank you so much for all of these wonderful books. They have been a wonder addition to our classroom.”

  • Learning Through Technology

    Funded Dec 4, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous donations to help my students get an iPad to help enrich their education. This iPad has given them opportunities to read books that they would not otherwise have access too. In addition, the iPad has allowed them to research information to help them write informational essays about all different topics.

The students are also excited to use the iPad to code robots that they will be building in our new LEGO robotics program. The iPads will help them research problems that their robots will have to solve and then code the robots using the program to enable the robot to complete the task that it was given.

Again, thank you so much for your generous donation.”

  • Reading Like a Rockstar in Spanish

    Funded Dec 4, 2019

Thank you so much for all of the wonderful books. The students have been reading them constantly. You have given them the opportunity to read and learn in their native language and for some of the students their second language.

My students usually do not have the opportunity to read current books in their native langue because we do not have the funding in the school. However, because of your generous donation they now have the opportunity to read current books as well as books that are related to topics that we are studying in class.

Again, thank you so much for your generous donations. My class and I are extremely thankful!”

  • The Start of Something Great!

    Funded Dec 12, 2018

I can not thank you enough for your donations. The benches that we received from your generosity are amazing and have already made a huge impact on our class. They have helped make our meeting area a special place to gather and enjoy our books and learning. The students need to earn a space on the bench and therefore their behavior has improved because of these benches as well.

My students were unaware that we were going to be receiving these benches and they happened to be delivered while they were at lunch. When they walked into our room and saw them they were so excited. They wanted to know where they came from and who would be so kind as to donate them to our class. My students could not believe that someone could be so generous. So, for that we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

  • A Comfy Place to Learn

    Funded Jul 30, 2018

My class and I would first and foremost, like to thank you for your generous donations. Because of your generosity our class now has a place to gather and to sit comfortably. Everyday we gather on our new mats to watch CNN10 so we can learn about what is going on in the world and we also gather on our new mats to read and discuss our class books. These mats have changed everything for us. Instead of sitting on the cold floor and being uncomfortable we are able to sit and learn in comfort.

When the boxes first arrived in our class the students were shocked that someone could care that much about them that they were willing to give us such a nice mat. The students were thrilled and couldn't wait to put them together. They now constantly ask to sit together on the mats whether it be for group work or for a whole class discussion.

Again, thank you so much for your donations and please look for other projects that we will be working on.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Woda

Everyday when my students enter my room, I hope that they will learn as much as they can but I also hope for it to be a safe place for them even if just for 6 hours. My students are growing up in the heart of Washington Heights. Many of them are English Language Learners and so visuals that support their learning are extremely important. They also learn better when they work with manipulatives that support the concepts that they are learning. The students work very hard and are passionate about their learning. Our school does it's best to provide the students with current materials that support their learning however with budget restrictions, it is difficult. We currently have 2 document cameras for 900 students. This posses a problem because it is checked out on a first come first serve basis. With over 30 classrooms this is a bit of a problem. The staff at our school has worked very hard to achieve and stay as a school in good standing. We are currently an "A" school!
