Logged Off & Learning Together: A STEAM-Focused Collaborative Adventure
Funded Mar 13, 2022The tone of my classroom has completely changed because of your generosity. Each week, we now have STEM centers, since we now have enough materials for the class to share and do different activities, rotating the activities they do in each center also every week. That means that in a month, each student gets to read, write, build, create, problem-solve, and get to collaborate and communicate directly with their peers. They learn from each other as they discuss. You might be wondering if there have been any disagreements or disrespect to the materials. There has been none. Students seem more mindful, more supportive, and less critical of each other (no tattling for once) and have learned to be gentle with the things they love and wish to use again.
As other classes and teachers struggled through the end of the year where traditionally behavior becomes the worst we see all year and engagement is a miracle, that did NOT happen in our room. When I felt we were moving in that direction, out came the centers and they were comforted and learning, and so was I! There aren't words to thank you. What a different life this is than the pandemic years, and even this year while we were in person but without these beautiful things that inspire us all and heal our hearts.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Ball
