Funded Sep 10, 2021Thank you so much for supporting the variety of learners we see in today's schools! With the items in this project, I am able to bring phonics education alive for our youngest friends on campus. The students are able to have tactile learning while sorting word parts and using other manipulative along side technology of the Osmo.
Speaking of the Osmo programs, my kids are amazed at how their manipulatives for learning come to life on the iPad screen! Their learning is reaching new heights and the growth is visible.”

Help ME Help THEM!
Funded May 24, 2021Thank you for reaching out to help SO MANY students on my campus through this project!! As a new reading specialist on my campus, I am responsible for prepping materials for about 20 instructional small groups across all grade levels. With the funds from this project, I can build up my resource library to do this and even help supply special projects to other teachers for ideas. Thank you for helping not only the kids learn and succeed on my campus, but thank you for helping me be more successful in my job.”

Books in All Ways
Funded May 5, 2021Thank you so much for reaching to help our younger generation learn to love reading! The materials from this project have reached across my campus as I am the Reading Specialist now. With the bins, I can keep materials organized for the over 20 groups seen by 4 different educators that I plan for. The books! Oh, the books! They h ave come in handy for character lessons, calm down corners, and teaching so many strategies. I am able to help support the 5th grade classroom libraries as well! It is so rewarding to see these materials reach so many students!”

Funded Jun 25, 2020Thank you to contributing to my 5th grade classroom library with some books covering diverse characters!
Reading in my classroom with these books is for enjoyment and these books have immediately been hits! "New Kid" has been a crowd favorite and cannot stay on the shelf. There are a few picture books that I have used to teach character lessons as well, like "Sofia Valdez, Future Prez" and "I am Enough."
All of my students are enjoying reading stories about real life hardships and plots that might resemble their own cultures and experiences.
I am so thrilled to be able to offer these books for my kids this year and in years to come!”

Funded Apr 14, 2020What fun we are having with these STEM bins!! I am a Nationally STEM certified teacher that teaches reading and writing, so I have to be extra creative to integrate the STEM process in my room. Primarily, I have used the STEM bins as a station rotation during my block of time. I have purchased additional resources to go along with the bins to help with this. We have used them to build settings for stories that the students then write/draw on storyboards, we have used task cards to build buildings based on pictures, and we have had some fun to just plain explore.
The kids LOVE when they see the bins out and beg for their turn each day. This resource has been an instant #1 hit!
Thank you for this invaluable time in 5th grade reading/writing!”

There's a BOOK for That!
Funded Aug 13, 2019First of all, thank you SO much for supporting the education of today's learners! Reading has always been a joy to me and I am so glad that I am able to combine reading and science with some new, fun books. I have used many of these books already (and can't wait to use the rest!) to introduce new science topics as we begin our units. We share the reading of these picture books to explore vocabulary and see the science that we will be doing in the class.
I leave all relative books out at the front of the room for students to peruse at their leisure too. They have "choice" or station time to read independently books of their choosing and many choose to visit these picture books. Through this, students are further building an understanding of science topics and reading skills simultaneously.
Beyond the classroom, these books and what I use them for have inspired Professional Development sessions. Along with a team of colleagues, I have been able to teach other teachers about using picture books in their science classrooms! So, thank you for bringing learning to my personal students, but also to classrooms beyond our building!!”

When needed, I can even bring these books out in tutoring. Doing so allows tutoring to not feel boring and negative, but fun and engaging. So again, thank you for making learning more fun in 5th grade!”

Rockin' and Readin'
Funded Aug 12, 2014Thank you SO much for all of your generous contributions to this project! The kids have all been so excited to have their turn in our new comfy chairs as well as using the lap desks in our reading groups.
Now that school is in full swing, I am using the combination of items every day in guided reading groups. The kids beg for their turn to meet with me! We are all so excited to meet together in our cozy reading area. Having these great additions in the room fits the needs of everyone! We are able to be flexible in our seating because they have found their own ways to get comfy on the chairs. We are no longer restricted to sitting in the hard plastic chairs "appropriately" at a table. They can sit, lay, or lean in any way they prefer while digging in to reading!
Having the new bean bags and lap desks have boosted the learning in my room because the kids are comfortable and more focused while working with me on their reading skills. I have found that when kids are comfortable, they are able to work better. So, thank you again from all of us in Mrs. G's class as we are Rockin' and Readin'!!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. G.
