  • Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Stayin' Supplied, Stayin' Supplied

    Funded Mar 30, 2025

Thank you for supporting our project. Budgeting is a very valuable skill for students to learn. Regardless of what career they select, students will need to have the skills to budget when they are adults. Your donation will allow students to have a portfolio of what they learn during the semester. The folders, cardstock, and paper will be used to document all that we learn.

Donors, thank you so much for sending the supplies we need to finish the year. My second semester students will benefit from your generous gift. As always, thank you, thank you, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

  • Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Stayin' Supplied, Stayin' Supplied 2

    Funded Mar 25, 2025

Thank you so much for supporting our project. The folders give students a way to keep a portfolio of all that they learned this year. I requested enough folders to last into next year as well. The dry erase markers are given to students to use on a weekly planner to help them track assignments throughout the year. The stickers will help students track data as we survey and vote on many issues. Finally, pencils are always, always, always needed!

Donors, you do so much for my students and I cannot possibly thank you enough for doing so. It makes a tremendous difference in our classroom and allows us to accomplish more. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your support.”

  • Game On, Learning is Fun

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

Thank you so much for supporting our project for game buzzers and a spin wheel. Middle school students enjoy a friendly competition and review games like jeopardy, trashketball, and zoink are great games to help students stay engaged and help me assess what they know. We do a weekly theme and end each week with a review game. Students love it. They now know that's our schedule and they are excited about Fridays. The buzzers really make it more exciting for students. It feels more like a real game show that way. The spin wheel helps us to make decisions or perform small tasks. This adds some additional excitement to the game. In a few weeks, we will start our budgeting lessons and we finish with the Game of Life. The spin wheel helps students to stay on track as they play individual games.

Donors, thank you so much for making our classroom a better place. I truly think it helps students to stay engaged and helps them to learn and retain the class content. As always, thank you, thank you, thank you!”

  • A Beautiful Day in the (Gingerbread) Neighborhood

    Funded Nov 15, 2024

Thank you for supporting our gingerbread neighborhood project. Our students studied the history of our community and then made replicas of landmarks and important locations. Students made the home that Jesse Owens lived in during his time at OSU, the local library, the sign that welcomes commuters into our area, a civil war training ground and cemetery, and a local shopping center and its former displays.

Your donation to this project was a fun way to teach important community info to our students. Students paid much more attention to the structures, timelines, and monuments because they knew they were going to re-create them.

Many students said that they pass by many of our local landmarks every day but they have never fully understood what the history was behind them. It was fun to see students hear positive things about their community. Many students said they wanted to ask parents, grandparents, and neighbors about the things they may have remembered about certain landmarks. Students got to learn history, share memories and stories with those closest to them, and learn how to build and create gingerbread structures. Thank you so much for the learning opportunity! As always, thank you, thank you, thank you!”

  • Documenting Soft Skills for Our Future

    Funded Sep 13, 2024

Thank you for donating to our project. The paper, binding coils, and covers have been used to create workbooks for students. I want my students to have a record of the things we have learned in College and Career Readiness class. I think the things we are learning will help students regardless of what future plans they may have. We spend the first quarter of the class working on life skills like effective communication, emotion regulation, conflict resolution, and team-building. The second quarter focuses on budgeting, consumer skills, banking, and career planning.

Donors, thank you! Our class has had so many experiences, learned so many lessons, and have had so much fun thanks to your support. You truly have made an impact on my students. As always, thank you, thank you, thank you!”

  • Mark Em' Up, Your Voice Matters

    Funded Aug 15, 2024

Thank you for supporting our project. These markers and poster pages allow students to use their voice and share their thoughts and opinions with others. The photos show two lessons that we have done recently. For the first lesson, we were having a discussion about conflict resolution. We discussed that a lot of conflicts stem from misunderstandings and that misunderstandings often come from the way we prioritize our values. We all agreed that all of the listed values are important but we don't always rate them at the same level. For instance, if your friend gets a bad haircut, then someone that values honesty as top value will think that it's best to let their friend know, however, if you value empathy as a top value, you will be more concerned with not hurting a friend's feelings. The photos of the posters show how students selected their top values. We looked at trends and discussed how knowing the values of others, might help us to resolve conflicts. The second lesson is something we do on Fridays. Students write a TGIF post it. Students say what they TRIED this week, what they are GRATEFUL for this week, what INSPIRED them this week, and what was FUN this week. This helps students to summarize their week and learn how to be reflective and self-aware.

Donors, you are the very best! Thank you for supporting my students. I wish I could fully express how much your support means to our classroom. As always, thank you, thank you, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Batdorf

Our middle school students are smart, witty, curious, creative, and so much more. Each student is unique but we work together to contribute to the whole. Our school also has an active PBIS program where we work to recognize EVERY student. For us, PBIS is all about culture and climate. We want our students to feel proud to be a HAWK! Finally, our school will implement a new college and career readiness course. This will not only help us to celebrate what is happening in our building and community, but it will also give students a voice. Our students have a lot of innovative ideas and we want the world to hear them!
