Staying Organized
Funded Oct 5, 2022I want to thank you for helping me put a smile on my students.
Our 3 Drawer cart helped us to keep each class journals in one place. We labeled each drawers with the nice wood color labels with each class title. Once students walk into the class, each table manager passes the journals to their class mates, it keeps them in a safe place to avoid misplaced journals. It's a great time management and students in charge feel the responsibility to maintain that organization.
Our classroom bulletin boards have a nice wood color with black borders and green accent eucalyptus leaves where our best work gets displayed it really brought life to our classroom.
I enjoy listening to my students commenting that they like their classroom.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Perez

Funded Jun 26, 2020I cannot thank you enough for the generous donation of our books and seating cushions you brought to our classroom and homes.
I am a Dual Language teacher, many of my students have not been exposed to enough English during their educational years.
I need to prepare my students to succeed in life. Esperanza Rising is a perfect story for my fourth graders to connect ant enjoy each time they read.
My students read each nigh, and each morning they are so eager to share their reading, even my English reluctant students are so into the plot of the story. They enjoy having their own copy of the book to be able to talk about it and make connections to their personal life.
I use a randomize method for my students to share, one of my students cries if she doesn't get chosen. ALL of my students are so into the story that they read more than what I assigned them to read. I love to tell those students who read ahead "don't spoil it" it makes them giggle.
My students are expose to read, write, speak and listen English thanks to your kind generosity.”

Mrs. Perez

Funded Jun 18, 2016I want to begin by thanking you for funding my project. Thanks to you I am able to provide a valuable resource to my students. Each one of them is able to have a copy of Esperanza Rising novel and read at their own pace, reread if it is necessary in order to better comprehend the reading. Each day I assign them pages to read, many of my students are English language learners, this novel is an easy reader and many of my students are able to connect to the characters. It makes it easy for many to follow the story and to get hooked. After their reading they write a brief summary this helps them to practice with their English writing. I then call on some volunteers to read aloud their summaries, this provides an opportunity for my struggling students to catch up with the story. After each chapter I give them a comprehension test.
Some of the skills I have introduce with the text is to visualize what the writer is trying to transmit to the reader. The novel has help me as a teacher to guide my lessons using the information from the text. We predict and make inferences which is a heavy tested skill.
The majority of my students have expressed to me how much they are enjoying the novel, and its difficult for them to stop reading.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Perez
