Our classroom is made up of a variety of students. This is what makes our classroom so special. I have the privilege of getting to teach the same students I taught in fifth grade. This year they will be sixth graders. In my opinion, this is a point in their school career that is pivotal. History shows that many children this age lose their passion for reading. I saw them fall in love with books in fifth grade. I hope to help them create a lasting passion for reading. We live in a very small community that is rich with history and pride. The students in French Camp don't get a lot of exposure to history and culture outside of our small town. The majority of the students receive free or reduce lunch, and our district provides supplies to cut costs for parents. With this grant, I hope to give my students more exposure to books with high interest levels.
