• One School - Many Cultures! Multicultural Dance Concert!

  Thank You All for providing the lovely tutus and accessories for the upcoming Dance concert at our school! We have just completed a huge, and hugely successful, Lunar New Year Celebration concert and are now working toward the next Big Event, The Black History / Irish History concert. We will be featuring a Tribute to the Wondrous Stevie Wonder where the costumes you provided will be worn!

  Included in the Irish Heritage section of the show will be costumes and shoes provided last year by the generosity of Donors Choose donors. Items received through Donors Choose funding are treated with great care and are used many times over by our children.

  The Mission for our Dance Education Program is to bring joy, artistic expression, higher thinking, and opening a widow to the world of cultural traditions through Dance study and performance. Thank You again for your Generous Support!”

• "All We Need Is Love!" ("And Shoes!"). "Help!" (Shoeless Dancers)!

  I can't Thank You enough for your Generous contributions which supplied 20 pairs of shoes for my "Shoeless" Honors Dance Group. They have used the shoes for two different performance projects this past school year. I plan to use them several times more during the upcoming semesters with my next group of 5th Grade dancers.

  Prior to the funding of this project, the kids were performing valiantly in non slip socks! The shoes were a joy to receive and a huge confidence booster for my dancers as they took the stage in subsequent performances! I will include "Before" (socks) and "After" (shoes) photos for you to see the wonderful impact you have made on my dancers!

• Third Grade Dancers Rock It With a "Shamrock Beat"!

  My 3rd Grade Dance students were Over The Moon Thrilled (!!) to receive and wear these Perfect outfits to complement their Dance performance in our "Irish Heritage Concert" held on Friday March 22. The show was wonderful, featuring Irish Dances and Music performed by 9 different (Complete!) classes & was attended by family members, fellow students and PS/IS 206K Staff.

  Thanks in Great Part to you and to another group of donors who contributed to our other Donors Choose Project, "Irish Step Dance Goes Viral In Brooklyn", dancers were decked out, excited, and feeling super proud to show off their skills!

  As I've mentioned, PS/IS 206K is an extremely large school community of immigrant children & families from China, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. This program was a "First" for our school and offered our students and families a window into the cultural traditions and artistry of a country they may not have been at all familiar with.

• Irish Step Dance Goes Viral In Brooklyn

  My students at PS/ IS 206K were more than thrilled to receive the perfect outfits to complement their Irish Step Dance performance in our Irish Heritage Month Concert held on Friday, March 22, 2024. The program, a first for PS/IS 206K, was a wonderful celebration of our students' talents, enthusiasm, energy and interest in exploring world cultural traditions through Dance.

  Our audience, families and fellow students and staff supported the performers with their presence, excitement and great applause! The assembly, featuring Irish Folk Dances, Step Dances & songs presented by 9 full classes of children in Grades K through 5 was a huge success thanks, in great part to your kindness and generosity!

  The 5th Grade Class that you supported will show off their Step Dance prowess once again in a District wide Dance Festival to be held in June. Thanks again for making this all possible for us!”

• Russian Winter Wonderland!

  Thank you so much for your generous contributions toward our "Russian Winter Wonderland" performance project. This Russian dual language class not only danced to a Russian song but also sang the verses in Russian. The children and their teacher and families were so delighted by the beautiful costumes. The opportunity to perform for the school and their families on stage wearing authentic Russian outfits not only enriched the experience of these students but also positively affected our school community. The great majority of our school population are minority children who have had none or very limited exposure to international cultural traditions. The Russian performance offered our students a window into a culture unfamiliar to them and contributed to school wide harmony and acceptance of all the children enrolled here. Thank you all again for enriching the lives of our students!”

• Who You Gonna Call? - GHOSTBUSTERS!

  I can't thank you enough for your generous support of our "Who You Gonna Call? - GHOSTBUSTERS!" project! The children were thrilled to wear their costumes and their pride and excitement over them was truly reflected in their outstanding performance! The children had the opportunity to perform their dance on three separate occasions for three different audiences. At each event the crowd went crazy when the dancers took the stage! The children danced their hearts out and I hope to locate additional performance opportunities for them at other school venues. Your generosity gave my students the chance to shine and feel truly special and recognized. Your support has given my students lifelong memories of success and stardom! Thank you again!

• "Thriller!" Fifth Grade Zombie Dancers!

  I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for funding the "Thriller" dance project on behalf of my fifth grade students. We received the zombie masks yesterday and the children were super excited to try them on and dance in them! Our performance date is May 15th, 2019 so the masks arrived right on time.

  Our performances are school wide events that take place three times during the school year. Each concert has a different theme and gives every student in our school an opportunity to shine and feel good about themselves as well as explore artistic gifts and talents they may not have known they had. The children dance and sing in a complete costume which adds to the overall effect of the performance as well as adding another layer of self esteem for each child. The masks your contributions have provided will also help the children to really "feel" like the zombie characters they are portraying.”

• "ONE, A Chorus Line"!

  Our big show, "PS 145 The Musical" occurred on Wednesday May 23, 2018 and was a HUGE success thanks to you! The students performed beyond my expectations and were thrilled to wear their special costumes, shoes and hats! The performance of "One!" from "A Chorus Line" was the finale in our school wide production and the final performance for this 5th Grade graduating class. The children were clearly proud of themselves and of their classmates. This collaborative class project taught the children important lessons about cooperation and teamwork. They learned to support and affirm one another and, of course, memorize choreography, maintain their timing, and learn and sing the lyrics while dancing! Thank you again for your incredibly generous contribution to our students!”

• PS on Broadway Presents "One", A Chorus Line!

  Thank you for the generous donation which supplied dance shoes for our "One, A Chorus Line!" project. The children are so excited to put on their new shoes during Dance rehearsals! Many of my students have never worn shoes with heels before so dancing in them is an ongoing work in progress! I anticipate that by show time they will feel completely comfortable and confident in their new shoes. Our school wide concert is on May 23rd,2018. Parents and family members along with the entire student body will have the opportunity to see our children shine on stage. We would not have been able to be our best without your help!”
