  • School Supplies to be Successful!

    A million thank you for all your kind donations and kind words. My students were very excited and eager to start using and working with all the supplies all of you donated to our classroom. The students grabbed the pencils and started to draw and write letters to each other and to me. They wrote friendly letter and drew themselves. They expressed how much they love each other.

    My students then colored these pictures with the colored pencils also donated, and made Work of Art. They wanted me to display these so everyone that came to our room can see them.”

    Thank you so much for your donations. I can not begin to express my students and my gratitude towards this great gesture of caring and compassionate contribution from you. Your donation came at a time it was needed the most. For my students, most of them come from low income family with limited resources. For me, I was just moving up in grade, and didn't have a handle on my writing block. Listening to soft calm music help me relax and take a step back and be more efficient. At the same time, my students also got to relax and focus more in their writing and therefore, write more.”

  • Furniture for Technology

    My children use our new and improved computer center everyday. Our computer center is part of our curriculum and daily life. Children are really captivated and motivated to use this center everyday. The children friendly table size makes it accessible and comfortable. Thanks to the use of the computer center our children are exposed to a world of multimedia and technology like never before.

    As soon as my children saw there new computer center they all wanted to be part of it. They wanted to start exploring and learning the new material. I had to come up with a computer chart schedule to make sure they all have their turn. My children look at and respect the schedule. They are always looking forward to their turn.

    As we venture into our next exploratory unit of our curriculum," Babies", the computer center will be able to support our theme as we do research. It will also continue to support our students as the end of the year approaches and we finish our Math games that is part of our Math curriculum.”

I teach a group of preK children (18 little ones, curious and full of energy). They are very eager to learn and get their hands on technology. One day, one of my boys did not want to participate in any learning or game activity I've planned for the day. He was feeling home sick because school just started and he had no friends in school, yet. He cried a little, in the early morning. I took my iPhone and had him play a learning app I have for my son and everything thing changed for this boy. He was very enthusiastic about touching this new device. He was eager to learn how to use it. After a few minutes two other students approached him and asked him what he was doing. They sat with him for a few minutes and began to chat and talk and share the iPhone. He taught his new friends how to play the game he just learned. Our students are generally of low socioeconomic status immigrant families from all over the world.
