3D Printer for Our Maker Space
Funded Nov 9, 2021The 3D printer your donation provided offers our students the ability to experience their projects from conception, to the model/ design stage to actual creation of their design.
This printer creates daily excitement, builds critical thinking skills, has increased our student and teacher engagement, and has facilitated a better understanding of the design process. Most of our students have not had the opportunity to see a 3D printer in real life, let alone be able to plan and carry out their own design projects! The creativity and forethought is really being sparked here in Middle School 114!
Some projects we are completing in Math, specifically in Geometry, involve conversion of measurement and ratio lessons for how much it costs to complete a certain project. We have just begun Geometry lessons that will lead to a 3D printed night light! The students have a growing list of projects they want to complete, and the excitement has gained momentum as they think of real life problems they can solve by a simple design...an organizer for their supplies, a door stopper made for our heavy door, a place to hold their iPad or phone. This list is growing daily!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Malchow
