  • Getting Our Hands on Diverse Texts, a Puzzle, and Headset

    Funded Sep 29, 2020

Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom. This year, is a year like no other. With your support we were able to add amazing books to our classroom library.

Jabari Jumps, A Little Spot of Emotion, Love is Powerful... were all titles that the students love picking up and reading. These books have allowed our class to reflect, grow as readers, and gave them tools to deal with their emotions.

We appreciate every donation that we received and we are grateful for all of you! Thank you again for putting these titles in our students' hands.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lasaponaro

  • Air Purifier for Classroom Safety

    Funded Sep 12, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donations. The purchase of the air purifier allowed the parents and students to feel ready and comfortable to step back into the classroom in September. It allowed us to enter the classroom daily feeling protected and ready to learn.

The beautiful book baggies were and exciting addition into our classroom. Each student was able to pick out the color that they wanted to hold their level specific books. These books are read in the classroom and travel home with them so they can continue to grow as readers.

We are so thankful for people like you, who are willing to provide resources for our classroom. Your donation has gone a long way!”

  • Bringing Series Books to Life

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

Thank you so much for the contribution to our classroom. Our students have loved the opportunity to meet new characters and pick up new books.

They have gotten to know The Nut Family, Mo, and Frog and Friends. They have discovered character traits for their new characters, discovered new problems, recognized different ways that an author can keep you interested, and made connections to the lessons learned in the books to their own lives.

In our classroom students are able to pick out new books each week and bring them home and back to school to practice skills being taught in the grade and their own individual goals. We appreciate all of the new texts that you were able to provide to our classroom for our students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lasaponaro

The texts that were donated to our classroom our high interest books that many of our students want to pick up and read. They are not only falling in love with the pictures, the characters, and the stories, but they are developing new skills within these texts. Our students are working on discussing character traits and providing text evidence, retelling the events that happened in the story, and making connections from the text to themselves.

Students in our classroom book shop for books on a weekly basis while thinking about the books they are interested in, books they can read, books they can read fluently, and books they can talk about. Students love to read independently in special chairs across the classroom and they love to read texts with a partner.

  • Classroom Mailboxes for Superior Organization

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donation! Without your involvement, we would not have such an amazing resource for our classroom. Our classroom now has a sturdy, organized place to store important notices and tools for each and every one of our students. Each student has their own mailbox that houses their documents, homework, and any notes that go home. This mailbox has allowed this group of 2nd graders to become more organized and more independent.

When our students saw the mailbox, one of them commented, "Wow! This mailbox is made out of wood." Most of my students are used to cardboard mailboxes, that end up looking disheveled and end up falling apart by the end of each school year.

Again thank you so much for your donation! For the remainder of the year we will be working very hard to instill independence into all of our students. We are working very hard this year to have our students work on their problem solving skills and their high level discussions with partners.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lasaponaro

Organization is key in a second grade classroom. For second graders, it is very important for them to gain independence and be responsible for their own materials. These mailboxes will allow my students with a designated area for all of their important notices and other supplies that must go home daily. These mailboxes will house their daily notices, homework folders, new homework packets, and book baggies (bags that are filled with books on their reading level that go to and from their homes). It is crucial that these mailboxes are sturdy, to ensure that it will stay in tact throughout the entire school year to allow continued success from all of my students.
