  • New Year, New Supplies

    Funded Aug 19, 2023

I want to start with a huge thank you. I received several snacks and a variety of supplies for my classroom. My students were so excited about the snacks. They really enjoyed the treats. I wish they had lasted longer.

The resources included markers, highlighters, and easel board paper. We use the highlighters often to highlight readings and notes. We have used the markers on several projects. We used the amazing easel board paper that sticks to the wall or board to create anchor charts. They then used the anchor charts to create posters and they also used the markers to create a newspaper front page.

We will continue to utilize the markers and highlighters throughout the year. We will use the sticky paper again to create mind maps to help review for the semester test.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Crawford

  • Game On!

    Funded May 4, 2022

My students love game days! It is so great to see kids talking and interacting, face-to-face. They are engaged and excited to be in class and socializing in a new (and old) way.

My students were so excited when they saw all the games that were available for them to play. They couldn't wait to play games that were familiar to them and try new games they have never played before.

After playing the games, my students were eager to share other games they would like me to add to our game cabinet. I look forward to expanding what is available for my students to enjoy for years to come!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Crawford

The class would incorporate lessons in geography, math, history, and reading and build critical thinking, collaboration, and strategy skills. Students could also potentially complete projects that involve creating their own board games. Having several board games for them to play in my classroom would give my students the opportunity to spend time interacting with each other and help them improve their relationships with their peers. This is a great opportunity for students to practice their social skills and learn good sportsmanship, how to take turns, and how to share. It seems like the only games kids play these days are on an electronic device. They don't have to necessarily actually talk to anyone, it's all through text messages on the computer or their phone. I'm looking forward to teaching my students how to play board games to help them learn how to work cooperatively with each other face to face. I think that by playing these games, the students will have a chance to socialize with each other and this will help build their problem-solving skills and many other needed people skills.
