  • Brick by Brick

    Funded Jan 15, 2020

Thank you so much for donating to our LEGO education project. It was fun to see students working together in their building. As they worked together, they practiced using communication skills and sharing.

Students were also able to practice solving problems that they encountered while building.

They were able to use their imagination and build many things. They were excited to show each other their creations. Students also participated in a challenge in which they had to build real life buildings out of LEGO. They had so much fun.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Alberto

  • Mad About Science!

    Funded Oct 24, 2018

Thank you so much for making a difference in the lives of my third graders. As soon as the materials came in, they were excited to see that we were going to learn about the human body. They couldn't wait to get their hands on the squishy human body model.

The students had a lot of fun using the stethoscopes. They practiced listening to their heart beat as well as their friend's heart beat. Students also examined the heart model and researched how their heart works in their body.

The students also had a lot of fun learning about the skeletal system. The human body model was a great way for students to see how the rib cage protects their organs. They had a lot of fun taking out the organs and putting them back in the human body.

Our goal in the next few dates is to research the human body as we manipulate the parts in the human body model. Students will have a research project and create a model of the human body.”

  • Exploring our World!

    Funded Oct 24, 2016

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom. Having 2 extra iPads has made a huge difference in our classroom. I usually use them in a center in which students are able to conduct research. As students read articles from Scholastic News, they conduct further research by watching small videos or visiting other sites that are related to the article. This is especially useful for students who have a hard time reading the articles on Scholastic News. The students are excited about reading the articles on Scholastic News because they are simple to understand and they enjoy the pictures that are included. Students are also excited to visit our research iPad center because they are able to expand their learning by conducting further research.”

  • Discovering a New World

    Funded Jan 4, 2015

Thank you so much for helping our class discover a new world through reading. As the boxes of books arrived to the classroom, the students were very excited to see what was inside. I pulled the new series of books and they cheered of excitement. One of my students said, "I cannot wait to finish the book I'm reading now so I can start reading a book from the Magic Tree House." Another said, "Wow! People really gave us these books for FREE. Say Thank you for me."

Every morning, my students come in and start their morning routines. Each day, we do 30 minutes of reading. At the beginning of the year, the students did not really enjoy reading. They were not used to reading a book from beginning to end. However, as the year has gone by, the students have been excited to read stories and series of books that they have never read before. With the new books, I see students' excitement continue to grow because our classroom library has a variety of new options. One of my students said, "This book keeps getting more and more exciting as I read each chapter." The students are captivated with their reading.

This project has boosted student learning because I have seen an improvement in their reading comprehension scores. Students' writing has also improved. They are able to compose more detailed sentences. I have also seen that their writing has sequence from having a beginning, middle, and an end.

Thank you so much for caring for our students and for making a difference in their lives.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Alberto
