The 23 students in my classroom come from a rural community in South Carolina. Our small, Title I school has an average of 500 students enrolled. Close to 50% of the students at our school qualify for free or reduced lunch. My class consists of 16 energetic, funny boys and 7 personality-filled girls. Six of my students have just turned five in August, which developmentally puts them at a disadvantage academically. My children are so very eager and excited to learn, and I hope to equip them all with the tools they need to be successful in this journey.
