Funded Sep 29, 2022Our sixth-graders are using the puzzles and games weekly during our advisory class to build relationships and make new friends through shared interests! Students are also practicing speaking kindly to each other and taking turns, which are skills they can bring to group work in all classes and use for their whole lives.
Students were so excited to use these materials! They love having creative time with their peers and teachers. In fact, all of the sixth-grade classrooms are utilizing these materials and learning the same skills, and simply having fun! Just the other day, we combined two of our advisories in one room and watched twenty-five extremely happy students play board games, card games, and puzzles and begin relationships with students they hadn't yet had classes with this year.
Thank you so much for contributing to this wonderful cause. What an amazing chance for kids to be kids and learn some important life and social skills in the process! After the last two and half years of keeping their distance and being fearful, it is inspiring to see students enjoy socializing and collaborating again.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Erica Fontana
