Ready, Steady, Shoot!
Funded Mar 11, 2011We have really enjoyed the awesome digital cameras which were donated for our Adobe Youth Voices program. As a public school in an urban environment where 95% of our children are from low income families, we have limited access to up-to-date technology and advanced tools for media production. With our new cameras, the fifth and sixth grade students in our after-school Adobe Youth Voices program have had the opportunity to develop effective communication skills and "create with a purpose" using the cameras you have donated.
The students have learned about different camera angles, uploading pictures, and editing photos. They have natural talent and are always eager to use the equipment and try new techniques. Our students created a video, which addresses "school success" and identifies ways to achieve your goals. The students are very proud of their work and excited to continue learning about media production. They have enjoyed the opportunity to apply their creativity and learning through the development of a meaningful project.
Thank you again!!”

Center of Our Math Universe!
Funded Sep 14, 2009The school year is in full swing and the math center games and activities have been a huge success! My students constantly ask to use the math center for "free time", which shows they truly enjoy the wonderful games and the challenge each activity brings.
Some of the most popular games include "Dino Tracks", which is a graphing game that reinforces data collection and recording; "Roll and Build", a geometry game that involves rolling a dice to choose a shape, which is then built by the student using balls and sticks; and "Frog Jump", a plastic frog that jumps a distance which is measured using a measuring tape. The students really like working in pairs with the frog game!
Recently I used the place value boards with a small group to reinforce ones, tens and hundreds. The colorful, sturdy tiles were easy to flip and gave the students complete control over their learning. It made the lesson more engaging and fun!
Despite the economic challenges of the last year, you chose to make a difference in these student's lives. Thank you for your generosity - it has made math more accessible to some great kids! We love math!”

Funded Oct 15, 2008I cannot tell you how humbled I am that you donated towards our Science proposal. I knew the project was a large one, and I wasn't sure if it would be fully-funded, so you can imagine my delight when I saw it was fulfilled! We can't wait to use our materials, especially since Science Fair is just around the corner.
Thank you again for your generous donation. Please know your generosity will benefit students for years to come”
