Students at my school are between the ages of 14 and 18. They are diverse ethnically and academically. All of my students have college goals. They get excited when they are asked to solve a problem in class that has real life relevance. They have begun to sense their place in the world and are anxious to make a difference. A significant part of the environmental science course is a service project, where students apply what they have learned in a way that benefits the community.
