I teach in a Title One school in Northern California, serving a large Latino community. The majority of my students come from low socio-economic households, receive free and reduced rate lunch and are English Language Learners. Many of my students have parents working multiple jobs to make ends meet. Despite these hardships, my students come to school eagerly, ready and willing to do the hard work of learning. They are bright and capable students with enthusiasm, energy and perseverance that any school or teacher would envy.
