  • Developing Life Long Readers

    Funded Sep 7, 2021

I am so thankful for your financial gift. With your support, we added new nonfiction books to our classroom library. The students are so excited to have new books to read. These books are helping us learning about text features and text structures. Students are motivated and inspired to read more. I also use the books to read aloud to the students. This helps with vocabulary development and reading skills such as making inferences, identifying the main idea, and using context clues to help determine the meaning on unknown words.

Thank you so much for your support of your classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Thompson

  • Basic School Supplies

    Funded Aug 27, 2021

Thank you for supporting our "Basic School Supplies" DonorsChoose grant. With your help, we were able to purchase sanitization supplies, pens, colored paper, and ink for the printer. These essential materials have allowed me to create fun, engaging learning task cards, games, and other printable items.

The students have been actively engaged in our reading lessons. They enjoy the task cards, vocabulary games, and art integration activities. I do believe the students will continue to master the learning objectives and standards . Thank you again!”

The students enjoy checking taking the books home and reading them with their families. We are pleased the students have increased the amount of time they spend reading. • The More You Read, the More You Know

    Funded Mar 24, 2021

I have a diverse group of students. Some are reading on a high school level while a few struggling readers are reading two or more grade levels below. My classroom library is an essential part of our classroom because I try to develop a life-long love of learning. I have a plethora of books on a variety of topics, genres, and levels, so students have immediate access to books. The books are used to enhance student motivation to read, for classroom instruction, and to differentiate instruction to meet each student's individual needs.

I am grateful to all donors for their financial support. It is greatly appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Thompson

  • The More You Read, the More You Know

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

The books I carefully selected to encourage and inspire my students to read have not stayed on the shelves this year! The students have shared that they believe our classroom library is better than the school library! This can be attributed to the number of books that feature characters that look like them!

I am proud to report that our reading scores have improved, students are reading more books, and most importantly perceive themselves as "good" readers.

Your generosity, kindness, and financial gift are greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!”

  • The More You Read the More You Know!

    Funded Mar 4, 2020

Your financial donation was used to purchase a variety of books for my sixth grade students. These titles were specifically chosen to motivate and inspire the students to read. My literacy goal is to motivate and inspire all students to develop a life-long love of reading.

The books arrived shortly after our school closed due to the COVID pandemic. Since the school and public library were closed, I was able to distribute the books to students without a personal book collection.

Your kindness and generosity is appreciated. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Thompson

  • Inspiring Greatness

    Funded Oct 16, 2019

Thank you for supporting my class and group of awesome students! We appreciate your generosity! With your financial gift, we received school supplies to ensure the students' academic success. The colored ink was used in our classroom printer to create hands-on learning games. The vinyl allowed me to personalize gifts for the students and to honor their school achievements. The headphones are being used with our online reading program.

I am most grateful for the set of Storyworks magazines from Scholastic. These magazines contain a plethora of high interest reading passages that enhance our test-taking strategy lessons.

Thank you again for your support, kindness and generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Thompson

  • Please Provide Pens, Pencils, and Paper

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

I don't think you will ever truly realize the impact your financial donation, generosity, and benevolence has had upon my classes of sixth graders. The cardstock is being used to create vocabulary games and to activities to ensure students are mastering the grade level reading standards.

The gel ink pens help motivate and inspire my reluctant writers. They enjoy using the pens when publishing their writing. This enhances the students work when displayed for our school family. The students take pride in their work and the quality of work is improved.

Because of your support, the students have expressed an interest in paying it forward. They are going to use the materials to create cards for the local senior citizens nursing home and also for deployed soldiers. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Thompson

I am working diligently to motivate and inspire my students to work to their full capabilities. Although many of the students live in poverty, struggle with reading and writing, or come from families with special circumstances, we have high expectations for learning! I strive to develop learning experiences to increase students' self esteem and pride in their culture. These activities also require students to engage in higher level thinking. Current research proves there is a correlation between technology, productivity, and depth of understanding. Your generosity is appreciated.
