  • Classroom Printer Needs Ink

    Funded Aug 23, 2019

Thank you so much for funding this project. With your support, I was able to tailor lessons and independent work for my students. My students were grateful to receive the academic support they needed. The printer ink served its purpose and my students made great gains because of it. They were able to work on math and writing activities as well as engage in phonics activities that promoted specific skills.

So, thank you so much! My students were better prepared to go into the next grade level. I look forward to seeing the continued growth in future students.”

  • May Mental Health Month Snack

    Funded May 11, 2024

I want to thank you for funding this project. Our kinder and first-grade students enjoyed eating their healthy snacks. It was a pleasant and surprising way for them to celebrate May Mental Health Awareness month. Our staff and students believe in our school motto--Healthy, Friendly, and Smart.

The kids had heard about May being Mental Health Awareness Month. Each day, the kids engaged in different small activities that promoted good mental health. So, it wasn't anything new for our students to hear from our teachers that eating healthy snacks helps our minds stay healthy. They were made aware of the different types of snacks that they could choose over the unhealthy options they face everyday. On one ordinary day, the kinder and first-grade classes received a surprise. Each student would be receiving free apple sauce to snack on. The kids were overjoyed, and they wore their excitement on their small faces, smiling from ear to ear. I want to thank you for making that possible.

Now, our kids got an opportunity to eat a healthy snack. In the future, our kids will be able to make healthier choices for themselves.”

    With gratitude,

  • An Engaging Field Trip to the Kidspace Children's Museum

    Funded Oct 29, 2018

Thank you so much for your help, providing our students with admittance to their field trip. The students could not stop talking about how much fun they had at the Kidspace Children's Museum. You made that possible! They learned more about insects and other animals and interacted with several hands-on science experiments. What the kids and I appreciated the most is the chance to explore all of this together with other classmates from other classes, creating shared experiences that we were able to write about throughout the weeks that followed. As a teacher, this experience helped build background knowledge to future non-fiction writing and science lessons. A big thank you for your donations!!!”

  • Music: A Language for the Mind, Body, and Soul

    Funded Nov 7, 2014

I want to thank you for your donation of song flutes. Throughout the school years since the purchase, several of our classes have benefited from playing these instruments. They learned how to read and write music, and play basic tunes, like Mary Had a Little Lamb. Most importantly, these flutes motivated my students to excel in other areas as they looked forward to the reward of playing the song flutes in the afternoon. What fascinates me the most is when the students learn that they can create their own music and play it for others. Every year, the students look forward to playing the songs they learned in front of their parents. So, I thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your donations!!! =0)”

  • The Prepared Learner

    Funded Oct 13, 2015

Thank you so much for helping to fund this project! Since the project was funded, there have been many students who have benefited from having a classroom sharpener, whiteboard markers, glue sticks, and pens to develop their writing. When the items first arrived, they were floored by how there were people who believed in them and supported them without having met them. The kids felt honored to have been gifted the necessary tools that helped them develop their personal narratives, create their animal habitats, and draw out their math problems on their whiteboards with their new whiteboard markers. They've learned to embrace their identity through the many art projects we've worked on and have shared their personal stories that shaped them through their journals. You have done so much without really knowing it. I thank you for being a part of their lives!”

  • Whiteboards: Engaging Learners in Math and Phonics

    Funded Oct 25, 2014

"Wow! Cool! That's for us!?" Those were just a few things that were said by my students as they heard the news that our classroom was receiving the white boards. Jumping, screaming, and a few tears were shed when they actually had the white boards in their own hands. It was theirs to use. Something that was beyond the workbook and papers. It was a chance to discover a new way of learning. I am grateful for what you have offered my students. They have seen that the world can be kind, and they can certainly be a recipient of that kindness.

The students have used the white boards for an array of things, primarily for mathematics and language arts. When they first received the white boards, they had a chance to practice the four multiplication strategies on their white board interchangeably--skip counting on a number line, repeated addition, drawing equal groups, and drawing an array. For both reading and writing, the students used the white boards to decompose articles into it's major components--main ideas and details--and work on creating summaries with the tree map graphic organizers that they wrote on the white boards. They also learned to learn and practice the vocabulary words of the week, writing sentences with the words, creating word squares, and drawing pictures that matched the definitions I provided. In English Language Development (ELD), the students used the white boards to practice verb tenses, converting words from past to present to future tense. The last thing the students used these white boards before Winter Break was plotting fractions on a number line that they have created independently on the number line, labeling each mark with a fraction based on the increment I have assigned for that number line. Amazing! These kids are soaring well above expectations and it is because of your generosity.

The white boards have been extremely helpful in my teaching and my students' learning. For me, the white boards offer a quick snapshot of my students' learning process and progress. It's hard to see what the students are thinking so a quick task on the white board gives me an opportunity to see that my students are understanding the lesson and, therefore, the common core state standard being addressed. The white boards give my students a chance to access the curriculum through a different medium. This medium gives my kinesthetic and tactile learners a chance to enhance their learning. I thank you again for giving my students and myself a chance to excel.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Leticia Rosales

My students are the future. They are eager learners that want to take a stand on what they want to learn so that they can conquer tomorrow. They are a unified and accepting group that believes that everyone is capable of learning anything so long as they are willing to put in the time and effort to learn it no matter what skin color or gender. Their drive is supported by the amazing teacher collaboration that takes place at our school. Our teachers teach with the Common Core and use data to drive our lessons for the better of our students.
