  • Support Collaboration, Creativity, Computational Thinking, and Learning with LEGO Robotics

    Funded Sep 19, 2024

Thank you for supporting the robotics program at our school!

This fall, more than 70 students participated in after school robotics programming. We were joined by parent and university volunteers. Students collaborated, designed, and shared their designs with peers and with judges at a local competition. Families and students were elated with the opportunity provided by the kits and the robotics program.

This winter and spring, students will use the kits as part of our "Genius Hour." Students will also code rovers as part of a class project in grade 5. There are so many ways we plan to use these kits!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Smith

  • Support Collaboration, Creativity, and Computational Thinking with Robotics Kits

    Funded Feb 14, 2024

Thank you so very much for supporting our robotics program at Marian Anderson School! Because of your generous support, we hosted four club sessions this spring: two with students in grades 1-2 and two with students in grade 3. Additionally, students in grades 4-5 from our fall club served as mentors. Overall, 52 students participated in one of the programs this spring.

Each pair of students had access to a kit during the after school programming, resulting in lots of opportunities for hands-on learning. Students were elated about being able to build creative projects with the LEGO robotics kits. LEGO provides project ideas and tutorials on their website. So, students were able to select projects that interested them. They also had the freedom and support to build things from their own imaginations.

Additionally, students from Penn Engineering and parent volunteers supported our after school clubs as mentors. Overall, the after school programming was an enriching experience for students. We look forward to offering robotics clubs next fall!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Smith
