My students are wonderful. I have 8 boys and 1 girl. Each one is has severe disabilities, one has spinal bifida and autism, he uses a wheel chair and does not speak. With the use of an i pad for communication and educational access, we have been able to teach him to communicate. He is able to read and solve math problems. He is learning to type. Another student is severely autistic with serious behavior challenges. He has learned to communicate with the I pad. His incidents of aggression have been reduced significantly. Four of my intellectually disabled students share an i pad during their group reading lesson. One of them has Down Syndrome and is deaf, another has severe seizures and cystic fibrosis. With the iPad they are answering simple questions and are more engaged in the lesson. They are able to show they understand what I am asking and enjoy having a voice in class discussions.
