  • Watching Insects Grow As We Grow!

    Funded Apr 9, 2022

Thank you so much for your kind and generous donation to my students. The butterflies arrived first so the students loved watching the transformation. Then the ladybugs arrived a month later. Having them arrive at two different times was great because we were able to dedicate a good amount of time on each insect. My students really enjoyed watching the caterpillars and ladybugs evolve. They were super sad when we had to release them. They loved following the journey of both the butterflies and ladybugs transformation. Thank you again for your kind and thoughtful generosity.”

  • Tools for Technology

    Funded Jan 18, 2022

I can not thank you enough for donating to this project. The Wireless Loudspeaker & Voice Amplifier has been such an amazing addition to our class. We use it to watch educational videos and Gonoodle for brain and dance breaks. In the past, students would lose interest when they could not hear what was being said. Having this amplifier has aloud us to never miss a word! We are able to hear everything being said! The headphones have also been great during reading time. Students can use their own personal headphones to read quietly.”

  • Teachers Helping Teachers!

    Funded Dec 2, 2021

Thank you for giving me and my class this wonderful gift. Being able to purchase books and materials as I go has been wonderful. This gift allows me to support my students throughout the remainder of the school year. Sometimes, this pop up that we need along the way. After we go to professional developments and training, new ideas and things come up. Having this gift card allows me to find things and purchase materials that we are finding to be helpful as we navigate this new way of teaching. These materials are not only helping my students but others as well on my grade, as we share materials to make sure all students have access to materials that match their needs. Thank you again for your support to my students!”

  • Writing and Math Supplies Refresh

    Funded Dec 27, 2021

Thank you so much for donating to this project. My students were in need of new pencils and erasers. They have been working so hard this first term and used up all the supplies. Starting the new year with fresh materials have been wonderful. Students were excited to get their pack of pencils and get to work. The new math bins have been great as well. Having each math game in a secure place has been great. It is also easier for students to access and find what they are looking for. Thank you so much for giving us the gift of fresh new materials and helping us to learn and grow!”

  • Becoming Experts of Nonfiction!

    Funded Dec 22, 2021

Thank you so much! Starting the new year with all of these new books has been amazing! The students were so happy to have brand new books to read. I was so happy to see their interest in reading still high after a long break. Students are engaged and reading for 35 minutes each reading period. They are also asking each other, "when you're done can I have that book next?" As a teacher, this is such an amazing thing to experience. Students wanting to read and then figuring out how they can get their hands on another book! This would not have been possible without your help. Thank you again for your support!”

  • Bins & Bags

    Funded Aug 23, 2021

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom. Having book baggies has made my students lives so much easier. They are sturdy and secure. It keeps all of their reading materials in one safe place. It allows students to carry their materials to and from school. They are large enough to hold many books of various shapes and sized. The writing bins allow students to keep all of their writing materials in one secure place, as well. Writing papers are always all over the place. One folder is not enough! Having a bin to hold their folders, charts, erasers, and other writing tools has made a world of difference. Without your support and dedication to our classroom we would not have these important materials!”

  • Series Books for Remote Learning

    Funded Apr 28, 2021

Thank you so much for the generous donation I am so sorry I am late with my thank you letter. The books arrived after the unit was finished, so I gave these books to the students to have and read over the summer. They really enjoyed this little present along with a workbook. Students still pass by my room and thank me for getting the books donated. They loved the series then and they still do. They come in and ask if I have started reading some of the series books with my current second graders. Your generosity helped students to have books in their hands over the summer and aided in preventing a summer slide!”

  • Help Avoiding Summer Slide

    Funded May 19, 2021

I am so sorry for the delay! I am so thankful for your donation to my class. My remote students were so excited to come and pick up their materials to use over the summer. Some students started working in their workbooks before summer break even started! I am hopeful that the workbooks helped some students to avoid a summer slide! Thank you for providing students with these workbooks. Parents came back in September and thanked me for getting these workbooks into their child's hands. They said it was very helpful and they were super grateful as well! With your help, I was able to accomplish this goal!”

  • Studying Insects Remotely.

    Funded Mar 18, 2021

Thank you so much for donating to this project. It was really great having insects to study with my class. It was difficult having them home rather around the classroom because the students were not able to see the transformations with their own eyes. I hope that through my pictures and videos I was able to bring it to life as much as possible. This project inspired one student to purchase caterpillars and watch butterflies transform at home. The ladybugs and praying mantis (still waiting for this one to hatch) have been wonderful as it is my first time working with these insects. This project brought some science and fun to my remote classroom. I was able to do this with your help, and I thank you greatly for that opportunity!”

  • Read Aloud for a New School Year!

    Funded Sep 2, 2020

So sorry for the delay in writing my thank you notes! These read aloud books have helped so much. As a remote teacher, I am trying to find ways to get the students excited for reading and remote learning. I am trying to keep them engaged as much as I can. having great read aloud books is one way to engage students not only remotely but in school as well. There are so many books coming out that I just want them all. This project in particular was a mix of curriculum books but also some fun books. I used Jabari Tries and Jabari Jumps in the beginning of the year as a mentor text for narrative writing. This was the first time I used these books and the students loved it. They connected with the little boy and his fear of jumping of a diving board and not wanting help from others. But later understanding that it take times to face fears and it's okay to ask for help. Students loved the Penelope books because they are about a dinosaur going to school and being afraid. Another topic kids can relate to. We are a Family was a great way to start the year and letting the kids know we are all in this together. The Pigeon books are always a hit with the kids. This was all possible with your help. I thank you for your continued dedication and support to myself and my students each year! You have such a huge impact on their education!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Schirripa

My classroom consists of 28 unique students. They all bring different stories, experiences and knowledge to our classroom. It is a wonderful environment to teach in and to be a part of. However, it is often difficult to keep students engaged in reading when the material is not up to date nor appealing. My goal is to create a library of various series that will engage and relate to each of my students. I want them to want to read in school and on their own time. By the end of the school year, my expectations are that my students will leave wanting to continue reading throughout the summer. Reading is such a crucial aspect of a child's education. It can be a place for children to turn to when they need a retreat, when they need a friend, or just some peace and quiet. Reading cannot only help them as readers but also helps students write and speak as well.
