  • Magazines for Magnificent Kids

    Funded Oct 3, 2019

Thank you so much for providing these magazines for my students through this project! They not-so-patiently awaited the delivery each month. Now that we are embarking on distance learning, I have saved up the deliveries and will be sending the magazines home with some of my class' biggest fans in their learning supply bags.

The most popular topics of interest are dinosaurs, animals, and anything GROSS! I typically flip through the magazines under my document camera as they arrive to show my kids the exciting pictures and then we begin a wait list - magazine delivery day is a big deal!”

  • Help Us Learn Vocabulary Through NatGeo Kids!

    Funded Jun 27, 2019

I can't thank you enough for your donations to this project! Each month when the magazines arrive, we have to negotiation who will read the magazines first! The kids have even began making wait lists for the magazines!

The engagement that the kids have over reading these magazines is something rare. They beg me for reading time so they can just sit with their books and magazines and enjoy them, with no strings attached. It is one of my favorite times of day - just seeing the kids enjoying texts with no strings attached.

    Thank you so much again!”

  • Help Fourth Graders Move Forth Through Florida's History

    Funded Apr 4, 2019

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This project has provided my students with so many opportunities to learn about their state, Florida, and also to see how they can shape their futures as they grow up here.

This project helped me so much as a social studies teacher because I was doing so without any curriculum: no textbooks, lesson plans, or outside help! There is only so much a teacher can create on her own, and this project helped me provide rigorous, exciting materials that my students are excited about using.

    Thank you again!”

  • Tablets Keep Us Connected 2

    Funded Aug 19, 2018

Wow! Thank you so much for believing in this project! The tablets purchased through this project has changed the way I have been able to teach. Students are able to learn at their own pace, and guided by their own interests because we finally have enough technology to support each student. I have seen kids who were before hard to reach in math find an online game that has harnessed their interests enough to keep them logging back in for more "game time" (aka multiplication practice). Students are learning to be great digital citizens and are connecting with other children across the world. This wouldn't have been possible without your support. Thank you again!”

  • Art Supplies to Keep Us Cutting!

    Funded May 23, 2018

Wow! Thank you so much for donating to this project! The supplies from this project will allow my students to create as far as their imaginations can take them. The vinyl, paper, cardboard cutters, and fancy paper are not only reaching my students, but our "buddy" classes, who are kindergarten and first grade children. The delight on their faces when they can to cut and create with "big kids" is immeasurable. Thank you for giving to this project and inspiring joy across ages and classrooms.

    Thank you again!”

  • Breaking Out of 4th Grade

    Funded Jun 11, 2018

School is back in session and I was finally able to put these boxes to use! We did a class Breakout with an "Oh the Places You'll Go" theme. Students had to crack a cipher, find clues on a map, notice new posters around the room, and answer some riddles in order to "break into" the box. During the Breakout, students had to communicate with each other precisely and kindly in order to get from clue clue. Amazingly, I did not have to step in to remind anyone to use "kind words only," and the kids were actually receptive to what one another was saying. Pretty great for a first week activity!

    Thank you so much again!”

  • Podcasting About Scientists Like Us!

    Funded Dec 10, 2017

Wow! Thank you so much for making this project possible. My fifth graders became true members of a larger science community through the activities made possible with your donations. My kids used technology to research people and places locally and then first made a visual representation of their findings and then used our equipment to record short "podcasts" with their findings that can be shared schoolwide. One of my classes wanted to share with their second grade reading buddies, and another class wanted to be "experts" and interviewed by their peers - so that's what they did! Thank you again for donating!”
