Cozy Up With a Great Book in a Reading Nook!
Funded Sep 11, 2023Our students are loving using the cozy book nook in the library. Having a dedicated space for reading enjoyment has been extremely popular. They love to get comfy in the squishy chairs or lie on the fuzzy pillows.
The day the nook was first out for their enjoyment, the light in their eyes was undeniable. That light is still there when they come in to enjoy it. I have a group of students that visit almost daily to read.
I thank you for your contribution to the project. It has gone a long way towards making my library a place students enjoy visiting. I am currently working on adding diverse titles to the library as well as some board and card games! I believe a library is a happy place and a community space, and I thank you for your help in making that a reality!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Panda Cares and one other donor.Felt Board Feel-Good Stories!
Funded Oct 11, 2018Thank you so much for your kind donations. I apologize for the tardiness in this impact letter. We had a very large winter production that kept me from my regular classes for much of the time since receiving the resources.
My students are I are using these resources in grades K-2 to enhance our story time. The pictures show us utilizing Ezra Jack Keats' "The Snowy Day". First, I read the story for the students' enjoyment. Then, we reread the story together (shared reading) and students placed the felt board pieces in order at the moment appeared in the story. Next, the students retold the story to each other using the felt board summary. Last, they used the felt board summary as a resource to complete independent sequencing charts at their desks.
The students were very excited when I pulled out the felt board pieces. They had never seen anything like them. They (and I) were also very impressed with the level of detail in the pieces. They matched the book's illustrations very well! They had a lot of fun passing the pieces around and noticing when their piece came up in the story.
The next step for these students is just to continue using the felt board stories during story time. Reading enjoyment is a large part of the purpose of a library in lower grades, and the students enjoyed the book so much more with these resources. The next step for me with my other students is that I will soon be posting a project for my upper grade students, since this one catered to lower grades. I am thinking of doing one for BreakOut EDU kits... an escape room style activity that can be tailored to any subject in education, and will assist them in research skills.
Thank you again for your kind support of my students!”
With gratitude,
