I recently spent the week at a training to enhance the learning of our student’s literacy levels. The two biggest ideas that I came away with from this incredible training was that these students need to have a community in their classrooms where they feel loved, respected and comfortable in order to let themselves totally commit to learning. The second major idea was that students who find a love for reading are more likely to become life long learners. This summer I have committed myself to making my classroom the coziest, most comfortable, calming place these students will ever have. I will do that by creating cozy areas in my classroom where students can have an adventure through their reading. I also need an area where I will meet and conference with small groups(group table) about skills that they need to improve on. By supporting this project, you are helping to build an environment where my student’s will be eager to read and imagine a world of possibilities.
