Young Scientists In Need Of A Printer
Funded Dec 18, 2009I am writing to express my sincere gratitude to you for donating to my classroom so we could get a laser printer. Your donation enhanced the education of over 100 students. With this laser printer in our classroom, I was able to ensure that we had enough copies of our class work for each student. Additionally, this printer made it much easier to start organizing their science notes, activities, and assignments into a compact system we call "tomes". My students use their tomes to organize their daily work, notes, and assignments, as well as utilizing this tool for practicing scientific experimentation like a real scientist.
One of my most enthusiastic students, Kuianna, is a freshman in my biology class. She has shown real promise as a young scientist, and was immediately on board with using the tomes for organizing our classwork. A few months after we started using our tomes, Teyunna made a comment that made my year. She stood up while we were studying for an upcoming exam, and exclaimed, "Mr. D, these tomes really come in handy!"
My biology students were under a new stressful circumstance this year. The state of Missouri implemented a new "end-of-course exam", in which students would prove themselves in all necessary biology competencies. Needless to say, students were stressed about this high stakes exam, and expressed concern about how they could prepare and review for the exam. I am extremely confident that my student's investment in their tomes, which they used to compile all necessary information from the entire year, greatly increased their performance on the E.O.C. Your part in ensuring that all of my students could have the supplies they needed was undoubtedly key in their achievement this year.
Again, thank you for your support to ensure that student in St. Louis are provided the world class education and materials they deserve. My students and I are extremely grateful for your donation. ”

Funded Jan 27, 2009I am writing to express my sincere gratitude to you for donating to my classroom. Your donation has enabled over 100 students to start visualizing the microscopic details of life. My biology students were desperately needing different ways to access our content. Having an LCD projector for our classroom has drastically improved the accessibility of difficult information for the variety of learners in my classroom.
My biology students were under a new stressful circumstance this year. The state of Missouri implemented a new "end-of-course exam", in which students would prove themselves in all necessary biology competencies. Needless to say, students were stressed about this high stakes exam, and expressed concern about how they could learn all of the necessary information as well as actually obtaining a useful, working knowledge of science and biology. Reading out of a textbook is one thing, but analyzing biological diagrams, watching videos about ecosystem interactions, and playing review jeopardy before the E.O.C. is a completely other realm of learning.
One aspect of having our LCD projector for our classroom that revolutionized my teaching and my student's learning was my utilization of the projector in my lecture/notes procedure. Many teachers have the gift of a "Smartboard", but I improvised with my LCD and a plain whiteboard to make what my students called a "semi-Smartboard". Your part in ensuring that my students could have an LCD projector was undoubtedly key in their achievement this year.

Funded Nov 24, 2008Thank you so much for helping fund my project to get my students paper and composition notebooks. I have been doing research about how well interactive "notebooking" works and actually started with one of my sections to test the waters. I have been pleasantly surprised with how excited and invested students get in their laboratory notebooks. I can truly say that my students will be thankful for your gift as they are truly in need”
