Help Students With Anxiety and Stress
Funded Aug 29, 2024I want to thank you for the donations you've made. Though we've only been in school for roughly one month, I have used the items that were donated to my office a number of times with different students.
The chair cushions provide comfortable seating makes the room feel less like a sterile office and more of a welcoming space. The posters are around the room and so that students looking for something to focus on can have their eyes directed forward. Facing them are the posters guiding them to check in on their emotions, ground themself, and focus on what they can control. I've already used these posters with three students already. The other posters, I use to provide students with coping skills and reminders. The most popular tool I've used are the squish balls. Students love them for their tactile qualities and they help redirect conversation. I've also used the reminder stickers and I'm happy to see them posted on to students' notebooks. I've even used the game with a student, though not fully, and it helped to refocus her negative thoughts. These items have helped me immensely in dealing with the students who have come to my office in need of guidance.
My next step is to incorporate the guidance lessons during meetings with students. I want to be able to work on building skills before they get into crisis situations.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Gobin
