My school has been the hub of the community for more than one hundred years. We are located in the lowest socio-economic are of our school district. We have a combination of generational families (the core of the school), as well as a large transient population. I am a reading interventions, so I work with the lowest academic students in the school. My students have great struggles with reading, whether the act of reading or the comprehension. Although, they give everything they have; reading just does not come easy to them. I try to think out of the box by teaching various strategies, engaging activities or even classroom management skills to help build their reading levels. They take everything in that I have to offer and run with it. Together we see gains and set backs, but we work together with one thing in mind- to become better readers!
