Reading - Building a Love for Reading Together!
Funded Mar 6, 2025Lil' Panthers Learning Lab
Funded Nov 6, 2024I am amazed at your generosity. Adding more hands-on learning opportunities for our class is so wonderful for our preschoolers and our high school teachers. That's correct - we are a lab based preschool. Located in Potomac Falls High School, current high school students who have a passion for working with children have the opportunity to lean to teach and run an early childhood classroom. To watch the high school students get excited about our new materials and want to "play" with them right away shows the deep importance of hands-on opportunities.
The high school students develop lessons and teach our preschool students. They have full access to all the materials you have provided. Through our play-based theme lessons these are such a great addition to our classroom.
In a classroom that is rich with diversity and has many English language learners - both with our preschoolers and our high schoolers. The ablity to learn through play and language has a lasting impact on both.”

Funded Jun 17, 2014How do I say thank you for all your generous donations. I had no idea the impact the iPad would have for my student. Jada is full of life, energy and loves to be the center of attention. She does not have the ability to speak but loves to communicate. Since getting the iPad and purchasing an app called Go Talk, Jada is able to participate more in class. She is getting to be very independent.
This summer she and I worked 1:1 one day a week so that we both could get more acquainted with the iPad and app. We are still learning everyday. Jada is now able to communicate her basic wants and needs as well as participate in morning circle.
At first Jada's parents were afraid she would stop trying to talk once she started using the iPad but the exact opposite happened. Although she still uses sound approximations she is attempting to vocalize more. Of course the ultimate goal is for her to talk and with the iPad she now has a voice.
The exciting news is that now that we were able to demonstrate Jada is capable of using a device independently our Assistive Technology department is ordering her a second device to be used in the home!!”
