Who are they? Getting to know your students certainly makes it a whole lot easier to teach them. As you get to know your students you can figure out their strengths and their interests. My challenge is to find safe avenues that allow me to understand my students better. Which is why I love the idea of Scholastic MATH magazine. Students get to read articles and by sharing out I get to know them better. What are my students like? I would have to say as a community we have a strong family base. Most students work hard to please their parents. They have a lot of respect for their parent's expectations. As a school, we have had our budget cuts so students and parents have had to learn to be resilient and understanding. I find most families to be very supportive.
