  • Can You See and Hear Me Now?

    Funded May 3, 2011

Thank you so much for funding my project. I can't wait to use the webcams next year to skype with other classes. Being able to see other classrooms and meet people from other areas will greatly enhance the lives of my students--not to mention keep them engaged. My kids were very excited when I told them the great news. They were already coming up with ideas and projects we can work on with other classes. They have started listing all the activities and people we could do and meet with our new webcams. Again, we certainly thank you for your generosity because this project will greatly influence their lives.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. White

  • Love That Dog

    Funded Nov 19, 2008

Thank you so much for funding our class project. I could not wait to tell my kids. My students have such a strong reaction to poetry, particularly modern poetry (including the wheelbarrow poem), that they will enjoy Love That Dog and Jack’s point of view. Having supplemental materials is an enormous asset in teaching. High-interest, young adult literature, such as Love That Dog, enriches the lives of my students. I appreciate your generosity. Your donation has made this a wonderful Thanksgiving for us all. Thank you again for valuing my students and their education”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. White

Who doesn't remember the W.C. Williams poem about the red wheelbarrow and those awful white chickens? Love That Dog is a wonderful book of poetry written in free verse that my eleventh graders will love. In my American Literature class, we study the Williams' poem along with the poetry of Robert Frost and Walter Dean Myers, all of which are referenced in Love That Dog. I teach in a school that is motivated to get young people to read and enjoy it!
