Funded Aug 25, 2021Thank you for your donations to my project, "We are All Alike but Different and We are All Ok!" The books I received were added to our classroom library. I enjoyed reading them to the children and they certainly enjoyed hearing them.
In addition to listening to the stories, the children loved seeing people who represented their ethnicities, cultures, and heritages, as well as those of friends and classmates.
They learned about the impact that others have had on our world. They had a better understanding of the reasons why we celebrate Black History Month as we used some of the books from this new collection to study contributions of Black inventors, scientists, artists, and performers. The children used their knowledge at home as they created Black History Month posters with their families.
The children developed empathy for English language learners in our class and were eager to help them understand lessons. They learned to respect one another as they explored similarities and differences. The children left my classroom this year with an understanding and appreciation for those differences and similarities.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Peters
