  • Fresh New Classroom Makeover!

    Funded Aug 19, 2022

You have no idea how excited my students were to receive your amazing donations to our classroom! As the gifts were delivered, my students got more and more excited to open up the items to help make our classroom feel more like home. Our classroom definitely needed a makeover and your donations did the trick! We now have a classroom that other teachers come by and are impressed with the cozy feel.

My students are loving life with the new carpet in our classroom! The carpet alone had such an impact in our classroom! We now have a cozy place to have classroom meetings and the students have a great place to sit for centers or to just sit and read books. The decorations added so much to our space. I love when my students feel like they are at home. Your kind donation helped me achieve this!

We are so very thankful for your help with making our room our home away from home! We now have an inviting room that we can learn and explore in. Your kindness has meant so much to me and all of my students. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Keen

  • Tables for Team Work

    Funded Jun 7, 2015

We love our new tables! In First Grade, we work on many centers as a group. Having tables is essential to have the space where the students can work together in a group. The tables have been such an amazing blessing. We now have plenty of areas to spread out and work as teams. In Reading, you will find groups working in centers at the tables. In Math, groups enjoy playing academic games! Science is where we really work as teams and get to do exciting experiments! I really wanted to inspire my students to be a team and work together and these tables have been such an assist to help push this agenda. Thank you so much for your support of my classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Keen

  • Yippee Ki Yay! Welcome to 1st Grade

    Funded Sep 7, 2014

My students were so excited when we received our mini IPAD's in the mail! They all helped me open them and were excited to get to use them. They were all curious and wanted to inspect them. It was an exciting day! I had a parent who also donated lifeproof cases for each IPAD to keep them safe! My students wanted to use them right away. After I set up the IPAD's I then downloaded free apps with games and activities that my students would be able to use.

My students use the donated IPAD's every day in my classroom. I was able to download an app for them to take their AR tests on. I was always very difficult to get all student tested on AR in the mornings with only 4 computers. Now my students have 4 additional resources to use to take AR tests on. My students are also using IPAD's during math centers. I have a center every day where the students are able to take an IPAD and play a math game that focuses on the skill we are learning that week. The students always are engaged and love this center!

My students are using these devices and furthering their education everyday. It is exciting as a teacher to see them work hard and having fun at the same time. Technology is just another tool that I am able to use to teach them the skills that they need. These IPAD's have been an amazing tool to use and I am absolutely blessed to have been fortunate enough to get this project funded for my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Keen

My first graders are eager to learn! I have 19 individuals who love to work hands on and experience new things. They are curious and full of questions. I teach them to seek their own answers and use resources to discover the answers. My students are ambitious and love working in groups. I want to provide them with technology like the IPAD's so they can work in groups and explore and engage each other. Our school is a Title 1 school, which means more than half of the students attending the school qualify for free or reduced lunch. Most of my 19 students most likely don't have the necessary resources at home to explore learning in an engaging way.
