Over 80% of our students are economically disadvantaged, receiving free or reduced lunch. Students currently get the opportunity to see how food is grown in our school garden. We are looking to take our school garden efforts to the next level by providing our students with the opportunity to cook healthy food with what is actually grown in the garden, in addition to food from local farms when our garden is dormant. With your help we will be able to purchase kitchen equipment that students will use while learning to prepare healthy meals. I want to inspire students to lead healthier lives and give them the knowledge to do so. The equipment listed will be used by students to prepare meals not only for themselves but for their piers and family members to taste. With these taste tests, we hope students will be exposed to new kinds of healthy foods they may not otherwise get the chance to taste at home. You may see we are asking for 2 sets of things and that is because many classes have 20 or more students, making it difficult to share one piece of equipment with so many kids.
