My students are the most severe with varying and multiple exceptionalities and they are the smartest, nicest, most polite students in the whole high school and I would not trade they for the world. They are even learning to read through pictures that offer software for the IPad. The district has trainings set up for IPad use but you need one in order to attend. I have three desk top computers in the room and they are not at all excited to be on them. They are learning skills to prepare them for work such as listening, following directions, job seeking, and staying on task. An IPad with their curriculum on it would greatly benefit them. We are in a medium size school offering ROTC, and several technical programs, all of which is too difficult for the cognitive ability of my students.
